    • So you wanna stop working on the project which is actually responsible for the progress? Sounds kinda ridiculous for me…

      • Joni, changing the name of a LEGO Universe project doesn’t magically create progress. If Tristan wants to develop here, that’s totally fine with me. As I’ve always said, this project is 100% free and open source, as well as community-driven; you don’t have to join a site, forum, or club to help out. That’s the nature of open source.

        And to whoever is reading this, it’s not like this project is mine or yours. So what if Tristan hasn’t written a line of LUNI code? Most of us haven’t. Even I have less than 100 lines written in the current build. But as long as we’re working toward a common goal, I think we’ll be okay. People develop and collaborate here? Great! You all work in another place under another name in another group? That’s cool too. Want to work by yourself? Go ahead! Some of you are smart, some hard-working, some good at copy-and-pasting. Troubleshooters, translators, advertisers, artists, programmers; everyone can do something. It doesn’t seem ridiculous to me if someone leaves a closed project and joins an open one. We all want somewhat of the same thing, so let’s relax a bit, okay?

        • Great speech, Tim. I would clap but what you said isn’t completely true. It’s not the name which created the progress, it’s the team which works under that name. And the name LUSS gave me the nostalgia to learn C++, the knowledge to write dynamic CharData and the ability to talk to Knightoffaith, CDFalcon and Jon whenever I wanted to. Also it gave the community the ability to talk to the devs whenever they wanted to. TBH a Skype conversation isn’t much better organized than your site but it works in combination with private chats.

          So no. In theory it doesn’t create the progress. Practically it does.

    • HAHAHAHA. I think this is possibly the funnest thing i have seen in a few months. For everyone who doesn’t know, please let me describe Tristian for you. And don’t take this the wrong way, everything I am saying is true. He first comes to this project claiming to have created a server/client that is basically LUNI but with EXP, faction changing, and teleporting to other worlds(something we can all do right now 🙂 ) When we asked him for proof, he claimed he didn’t have his old computer with him, and that he would get it back in a month. Guess what? A month goes by and nothing happens. After we confronte him about it, he says that he needs more time XD. Then he goes dark. We start up the Skype group, and as soon as he sees he has been left out, he comes back. I still had hope for him, so I let him back in. We ask him about his server. He says his computer has a virus… So, without adding a SINGLE line of code to the server. He manages to get into our development group. And now that we are making progress, and demanding it of everyone in that group(not the one we are accepting people into, a different, smaller one) he decides the heat is up, so he comes here. I am sensing a pattern. But anyway, no, we won’t miss you Tristian. Now. If you show progress. I will publicly admit that I was wrong.

      • Tristan*, and another correction – my computer was broken with a virus in the first place. Nothing wrong with that, is there? I just didn’t bother upgrading my AVG. Anyways, yeah as Tim said, I can do what I want. There’s no proof.
        And you didn’t say “Hey Tristan, here’s a join.me link! Can you help out with the coding?” There’s nothing wrong with ditching it because to be honest I was very stressed out and there was little activity of when I was online on Skype.

        • Hey, if you have any viruses on a Windows machine, you can prevent them from booting on startup through Run > msconfig > Startup.

    • Yeah funny thing Tristan. What happened to those pictures proving you were telling the truth? No offense your sounding pretty on the edge here Tristan. I don’t even think Tim will trust you.

  7. Guys, I am posting this for everyone to hear. I am rather tired of all of this name changing going on and bickering. Can we PLEASE just keep it with LUNI??? Joni and Mater, you guys have been so busy with the new website that you guys have made no progress at all in the past month! I mean, I got on to discus the best way to add in my dynamic chardata, and you guys were talking about the SHADING OF THE MALSTROM ON YOUR LOGO!!! I mean, honestly, who REALLY cares? Instead making a new website and new name and new logo, I think our time would be better spent devolving. So can we get back to business(also sidenote: you can not legally change the name of LUNI if you use their software everything else aside) Now don’t get me wrong, I am not quiting or hating on everyone, but can we just get back to the way things were? With Tim helping out the noobs, and us devolving? I just think we made much more progress then. And hey, I have my own website, I know logos and how to make things look good. But, why have a website when you can’t show anything on it?

    • Sidenote: CharData(dynamic) is going well and I expect to be done in a few weeks.

    • Actually if your going into legality about the name LUNI we (Timtech and all of us) renamed it from what humanoid originally named it from my understanding. Humanoid called it just Luni based of L from LEGO and then Uni from Universe. but yeah I agree we need to get focused on what matters and that’s the game.

      I won’t go back to LUNI. That’s my decision.
      I don’t have a problem with exchanging information about the current progress and stuff but I want my own project, my own organization and my own team.

      So you wanna work with LUNI? Go right ahead. I won’t hate you for that.
      I will work with the LUNI source too till Knightoffaith and Jon made the structure plan for the LUSS network software.

First off, I am not saying that I want to quit(notice my “Now don’t think I am quiting or anything line) Second, is the reason you want to break away from LUNI is so you can do things your way? Because no one is saying you can’t… And third: the freaking reason I post here is because 1: I know you come here to check all the time and 2: It doesn’t get lost in the sea of comments on skype. So. If you find another website that is about LU servers and start visiting there too, I will post there if you like. I apologize for not posting this in private, but the bottom line remains: We need to get back to work.

  8. LUNI server says that it cant start cause MSVCP120.dll is missing from my computer, what should i do?

    • When you donloaded the server.zip, did you extract the files completely? Becasue that’s what you need to do. I had the same issue, and I just right clicked on it, hit “Extract all” and had it extract to the folder I wanted. I launched the server and boom.

      • Actually, even though most missing .dll errors are because the files weren’t extracted, the fact that this specific .dll means that you should install Visual Studio 2013 Express for Desktop or later, or you can just get some C++ redistributables. Also, if you did get the Release version, which doesn’t require VS2013, then the problem probably is that you haven’t extracted the .zip.

  11. So, in the heat of this drama of LUSS vs. LUNI. And mainly the accusation that either side is making no progress, I’ve decided to release something I have kept to myself and fellow devs for a while.

    What I’m about to post was a fix and build onto Jon’s unfinished launchpad source. It reads certain packets the client sends to the server, and then if the server finds a match to those packets, it sends the player to a specified worldId and opens a modified char_aw2.bin.

    Now, don’t get your hopes up, this is a very rough update that doesn’t use the RM. Because of that, the spawn points are set to what they are on Nimbus Isle. So, the spawn point will be off, until someone (Most likely Jonny or CDFalcon since I am no good at HEX or packet editing) figures out how to edit the spawnpoints. Once that happens, you’ll be put at the spawn points to each world. But that won’t happen soon.

    Anybody that has an edited world_2a.bin can play across all the worlds with that custom char. I made an update for that a couple months ago.

    So, now that I’ve told you all dat stuff… The source:

      • Yeah, it was my unofficial name for it. We can call it 0.6.4 or something.

        • 0.6.2 perhaps? The spawn packets can be easily changed with the hex spawnpoints but for me it would be trial and error to even get close to the spawnpoint.

          I believe we still have Nimbus Isle, Nimbus Station, Crux Prime, Gnarled Forest, and Ninjago Monastery exact spawnpoints though?

          • How do we do that? If you have information on spawnpoints, be my guess and tell me! I’d love to hear it! 🙂

  12. Hi I’m trying to use the 0.6.1 compiled windows only,
    how do I log in what username and password do I need?

    • In 0.6.1 you should use the “register” command in the server to add a user account. Then, you can log in to LEGO Universe using that account.

  14. Hey guys, I made some good progress on how to dynamically create packets… Up to tonight I had really just been studying how to do it, but tonight I started my code. However(this is mainly directed at Jon, as I am trying to fix his dynamic packet source’s bugs) I am encountering a DLL error that, if not ignored, crashes the server… Anyone know anything about it? I don’t have the error on me, but will post later…

  15. I was discussing this with Mater earlier. We feel like right now getting into LUNIVas a beginner is too complicated and not really many people understand it. I was wondering if anyone felt like they could make such a tutorial or some docs on how to get started?

  17. Hello all, am gonna take a break from LUNI as I have a few problems I need to sort out. Here’s what I need to do:
    1) Get laptop recovered. (Found someone in my area who thinks he can get hard drive de corrupted and recover files)
    2) Get a new computer. I’m running a Win7 computer which can only just meet the minimum specs for Win10. (Getting it custom-made by Ginger6)
    3) Buy an upgraded antivirus software – Malwarebytes? Don’t want this to happen again.
    4) Upgrade internet package. Only getting this: http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/4535226700 (yes it’s a wired connection)

    May take upto a week. Hopefully will be finished by Friday if all goes to plan.

    • I can help you with your computer if you’d like, and if you’re getting a new computer I highly recommend a desktop. If you are 100% sure you know what you are doing you can get by without a paid antivirus software (all I use is my own homemade antivirus, which is cheap, compact, and effective). And about your Internet… I lived with worse speeds for 15 years (I just upgraded to 20Mb down 10 Mb up from my old speed of 4 Mb down 1 Mb up).

        • Wow, nice. I’ve visited schools with 100 Mb down and up. Very fast. I also hear that Google Fiber gives its users a 1ms ping… and how much are you paying for that Internet plan?

            Like not much. Something around 20-25 where I live not really anything available in the area of DSL connections. So yeah 😛

          • That’s a good speed for the price. The 20 Mbps down plan I have right now is ~$60/mo. Luckily, I only have to pay a fourth of the cost since it is a shared connection.

    It was much harder than I initially thought it would be, but it was a good learning experience. If there’s ever a glitch with this roole all developers will just show as participants, but I think it’s fixed now. Joni, knight, mater, tristan, and XYQuadrat now have this rank. Thanks guys.

    P.S. I don’t know when we will move to luniserver.com but I don’t think it’s time yet. It’s just that this comment section wasn’t meant to hold a community, and a few pages can’t really hold all the tutorials and info we could potentially have online.

  20. So, I wasn’t active here for quite some time (just reading, no posts).
    But now I think I can go some more active.

    In my opinion, there are now three groups:
    – luniserver.com people (I’m also there)
    – people who further develop, but not with Timtech sites (joni, mater…)
    – people who are completely against Timtech (airplane, rabbit…)

    I understand all of this groups. They have their reasons, and this is fine.
    The only problem is if everyone still is in the LUNI project…

    The first group surely is. The second is partially, I think.
    But the last? Airplane, rabbit?
    Are you leaving, or just not visiting Tims’sites?

    We need clarify. For LUNI and LU.

    • I think they all made up now (thanks to me) and yes, we are all working on this together. No matter what we are doing, we are all helping each other restore the universe. (I think)

      BTW – anyone know what happened to Robowarrior?

        • I’m taking a small break, but when I come back I will probably work on polishing up code to make it look more understandable – to make it more open source friendly.
          Once that is done, happy to do some graphic design and collect & upload old versions of LU stored on friends computer to a ftp server or somethin’.

          Update on computer: Just got sent in, but will take two weeks to come back -_-

      BlastClient was contributed by Blaster Builder. It’s a complete client uike the Nexus2 client.

    • Hi fuzzyboy!

      Cool that you found our site!
      It’s really hard to say a specific date when enemies will come, because you need the Replica Manager (RM) to spawn enemies, and our devs actually don’t know much about how to use the RM.
      But you may check out 0.6.2 for character customization in game, as well as launchpads. Hope you enjoy LUNI!

    Good to see people are still active and this project is still going. Although this project seems to me to be going painfully slow, and I don’t think i’m the only one. I am a patient person though and am willing to wait a few more months for the release of what, i’ve heard is, the only up-and-running remake of Lego Universe. But Tim, do you think you could give us an ETA of when the game will be released with most of it intact? Characters, mobs, minifigures, imagination bricks, all the worlds, etc. If you could thatd be great, thanks. 🙂

    • A lot of people ask for an ETA, but we are not developing on a set schedule or anything like that. It’s even harder for me to say, since I’m not even working on the server code directly at this point. Perhaps someone else could give you a rough estimate of upcoming additions.

    • Sorry to burst your bubble, but even if everyone banded together, with no fights of any kind, it would still take significantly longer than “a few more months”. The only way I think that could happen is if for some reason former NetDevil devs joined the team.

  28. Hi, I’m just asking, how do I start the 0.6.2 server? I haven’t used the source folders before so could someone show me how?

    • Use Visual Studio 2013 Express for Desktop or newer to open the LUNIServer .sln file. Then, compile to debug (there should be a green triangular icon that says “Local Windows Debugger” which compiles the code, but first make sure the nearby option of “Debug” or “Release” is set to “Debug”).

  32. Has anyone tested LU on Windows 10? If not, I will on my desktop which is coming soon.

    Also, my internet radio station is going well and I am happy to advertise the project every 20 mins (apart from Fridays all day and every other day 7-8pm GMT)… but I need a script to send to the voiceover artist(s). Any ideas?

    But.. MrDialga’s project is the same as Alanzote, well, reaching for the same goal..
    And to be honest, Alanzote has a big lead..
    And I kinda like the work u made Dialga.. but.. you see what I mean?

    • I think you don’t understand Alanzote want to make are remake me not I want to make a continuation of Lego Universe with new worlds and anything else…

  44. Yay guys I’m back after more than a month. But ok now I’m looking for improvement all I see is people changing the name and doing other stuff. Cmon what happened to all of you! I see cd falcon and me are thinking the same thing. Now if you say I’m not doing anything your wrong because I’m learning c ++. And I accually still motivated. I’m so motivated I will keep on helping LU till I die. Done. Let’s all come together and finish LU.

    Hey there, LINU devs! I stumbled upon LINU just a week ago (At first I thought the whole thing was a hoax until today. Very sorry about that!), and dear goodness it’s SWGemu all over again! I haven’t even downloaded anything, but I can already tell this is headed in a great direction! I cannot even properly express the massive amount of gratitude I feel knowing you guys are doing this for those who can’t do it themselves, so please, please continue the hard work!

    I hope your group of expert coders expands soon, though. SWGemu is another project reviving a different long lost MMO, and the project might’ve stopped if they hadn’t expanded to dozens. I am seeing the same determination and effort that the SWGemu teams have been spending *years* on though, so I believe in you! (Cue uplifting music and a generic motivational speech with applause)

    well i have a question can i record this and also when i pree shift it doesnt build am i missing something

    • Yeah, you can record it. Since it uses software acceleration instead of hardware acceleration, almost all screen recorders should be able to capture it in fullscreen. And yes, a lot of stuff is missing at this point, including building.
