when only one player can play with your account then all other players must be wait … ?

The accounts officially stored in the LEGO database are no longer in use. Accounts are not required, and any username and password will work.
IS this correct? AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost or is it supposed to be that lu hopto one?
If you would connect to the public server (which is not in use anymore), then it would be lu.hopto.org. But, since all servers must now be privately hosted, it is correct to have AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost
Hi, I installed the program and rewrote the boot.cfg file, and I could open lego universe, but i could not log in. i found multiple walkthroughs but none of those logins worked. is there one that will?
Make sure you have the server running.
What client? A folder, the server client, the game? And what is the format of the files? Is it encoded?
The client is the game, packaged in a .zip format that you can extract.

If we are ever going to continue making LU, then we will most likely need somewhere where we can split up the work between people online. I’ve found two website packages called fengoffice and groupoffice. With them you can assign tasks and all that stuff.
there are 2 people remaking and developing lego universe, timtech makes servers for them and makes them public for the whole world to enjoy. this setup works pretty well, since making servers from scratch isn’t exactly easy.

The public server is gone; you will have to run your own server.

Not really. The new server requires a bit of user interaction to work, meaning that a public server would be impractical.
say uh… If things are really starting to look up then do you think you can add stuff? i say start out with small things such as rockets music and quick builds. then the rest of the content can be added soon enough. (i’m assuming that thats a no).
I play on a Mac, does this software of LU support mac os x?
No; the client used to, but it was broken when the LEGO Company closed the game. Now it works only for Windows. The server will also run exclusively on Windows.
You could always get one of those virtual windows platform things and run it there.

There is a service that hosts vps servers for free. It is called GuHat. Check it out please and tell me if what you think of it because then you might be able to host the LU server on it.

The website hosting service is called 000Webhost and they host paid and free websites. I have an account with them and I find their service good for my standards. They have cpanel, mysql databases, an email service with your domain name, 100GB ROM and a high website traffic allowance. (And no ads). I use a few other services as well but this one is good.

OK i downloaded the latest client and server, but i can only play cheeky monkey. any other crashes with a white screen and monkey brown gives a error about downloading assets of some sort. what?

If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t even be able to play cheeky monkey. This is getting irritating, as I can’t find what’s wrong. I’m not sure if it’s a bug affecting all computers or just mine, as I have no way of checking.
Yes you could… the client we are offering does not have all the necessary .pk files for the new maps, meaning that if it needs some, it will go to cache.legouniverse.com to try to get them.
Maybe cache.legouniverse.com is no longer available (shut down). That would explain quite a bit, and would suck…
I’m building a new computer in a few weeks anyways, if the file size is even 300 gigs for all the maps I could easily hold it (1TB hard drive), then I could host a public port forwarded IP server for those who can’t hold all the map data to localhost.

Have you considered that Chache.legouniverse.com is offline, or even shut down? In that case you should compile a server with all the pk files for people who want to host servers for those who don’t have enough disc space.

That is way too vague of a question. I have a video tutorial that shows how to set it all up on YouTube. My channel is “lego universe now”, I haven’t uploaded recently due to bugs with my computer (or cache.legouniverse.com) but the tutorial works nonetheless.

Before you say I missed a step, I made sure that I followed all the instructions correctly and also ensured that I had the client and server installed. I have the server running perfectly, no errors, but when I open the game it just goes to the white screen with the minifigure, then shuts off without even a crash notice. Any advice?
Missing .pk files, almost 100% positive of this. This issue has been a major one due to the removal of cache.legouniverse.com.
Ok, I got it working, but now when I try to log in it just sends me back to the sign in screen like I restarted the game. Is there a problem with the server?
Ok finally got that out of the way, but now I’m stuck loading. Whenever I try to load Nimbus Station or Crux Prime, it sticks on 1%, and for other worlds it just crashes. I think this is probably a problem with cache.legouniverse.com.

Ok, I checked to see if all my .pk files are present, which they are, but the worlds still won’t load. Should I just wait for the new client, or is there something I’m missing?

@TimTech, there’s really no way to recreate a new one, mainly because we do not know at ALL how the original was setup, other than small bits of data from the client logs. If you really wanted to try, though, you possibly modify your “hosts” file to redirect “cache.legouniverse.com” to “localhost” (or another server IP) and use logs/other resources to try to recreate it.

Right, but was it Apache? FTP? I think you’re right about not knowing enough to do this.
We all knew this was coming, they weren’t going to keep the cache server up forever. Do we have the .pk files for all of the worlds? Or do we have just nimbus isle to play on? (The nimbus isle guy still loads in, his pk. Files come with the client.)

For now there is no patch server IP, though I guess you could localhost if you have all the .pk files in the right spots, though that would take massive ammounts of data, lots of gigs to go around! You can still play nimus isle without a patchserverip (cheekymonkey) in the meantime.
Nimbus Isle still gets stuck at 1%. I’m going to try to find my old copy of LU and use the .pk files from there.

Actually timtech that is a really good idea for those who don’t have the disc space. The problem is finding a hosting website and funding it.

The patch server does not matter right now for the server. It mainly allowed the patcher to check if all files were up to date, and, if they were not, download the new ones, as well as update the game of you had it set to “High-speed download” (I think that’s what it’s called) instead of “Full Download”. Changing PATCHSERVERIP will do nothing to make the server work. The only real part of boot.cfg you should worry about the the AUTHSERVERIP. As for the .PK files, I uploaded those, and my client works perfectly… Maybe one of the files is corrupted..?

Jon send your client to Tim, it will save him a lot of time so he won’t have to dig around for the corrupted files.
Actually, he is the one to upload both asset folders, and it may be my fault the archive is corrupted (or missing .pk files, I haven’t checked).

Mainly people failing to download manifest assets, or being redirected suddenly back to the login screen. I think my client .zip may be at fault and I am going to upload another one today.
By the way, do you think we could get LUNI Server compiled to release? I get too many errors…
I’ve tried that before… I’m not the most skilled in C++, so I’m really sure… I may try to take a look at it tomorrow…. See what the errors are.

It’s all about supply and demand. Timtech was smart realizing we needed lego universe back (demand) so he made the emulator public (supply). If that game was extremely popular, then I can garuntee an emulator will be made eventually.
So I wanted to know,
When are the other worlds accesable?
And when are we able to create our own characters?

You can currently do both by editing the packets. World access beyond the four current ones will be coming in the next update (?) and character creation (to play with them) is not planned/possible.
When you do come out with travel, will it be like rocket travel (animation, click and drag rocket to platform, etc) or will it be something like a teleporting command?
It will be really basic… you’ll be typing a world ID into command prompt to move packets around.
You should first make the basic stuff! Equipment, Characters, monsters and worlds. Then the animals! Thank you!
That will probably come after this update. Nobody can even play on most of the worlds at the moment. Plus I would rather have travel between the worlds than Equipment and NPCs, but after travel that would probably be next on my list =D
What must we do to play LU without the patchserverip???
If you want to local host, you need to have ALL the .pk files. I’m guessing the new patchserverip will be ready soon, if not.
Sorry to break it to you, but I think we’re going to make do with no PATCHSERVERIP (thanks goes to Jon002 for pointers). I’m pretty sure something got corrupted with the old client. I’m seeing about revamping this project client-wise so

Why do so many people have to talk about ideallic plans for the far future when we are actually facing the problem of maybe missing some .pk files (and a cache for them) and therefore (in most cases) not being able to host any worlds publicly or even privately.
I’m uploading a new client right now. In a day or two, this should be fixed. (And a public server, if stuff works out).

ok the checksum thing works, but after i start playing the game, it proceeds to crash back to login after, oh say 20 seconds, maximum? possibly too many bytes? idk im confused. its true with any world (on cheekymonkey), after a certain ammount of time ingame, it just crashed back to login.
No the problem is that we don’t have a ptachserver so the Game restart…
I know what I’m talking about. The game starts if you play on cheekymonkey. My question is why it shuts down after an ammount of time in game. I edited cheekymonkey to play on avant gardens, and he does, for 20 seconds, give or take a few, before crashing back to login screen.
It is the Patchserver… Because we don’t have a Ptachserver the Game shows so you have the new Version if you don’t have the new Version or no resend come in the Game reboot…
Look, I can actually play on worlds for a select ammount of time. That means I don’t need a patchserverip, since he patch server only extracts files when you need them. The problem is that AFTER playing on them for about 20 seconds. It’s about a minute on nimbus isle. If you need proof I can post a video of what happens.
I know what you mean and this is the patchserver… I have the problem in past too I ask TimTech and he said I must do the patchserverip from localhost to cahe.legouniverse.com after that it works…
I have all the .pk files, rendering a patchserver useless to me. The patchserver gives you .pk files if you don’t already have them, which means that once you have the files, you can run that world without the patch server. Your problem may have been that you were missing .pk files, but I have all of them, yet it still crashes on EVERY world after an ammount of time, which leads me to believe that the new client has a bug.

The new client is not bugged, but I may have edited vital files, changing their checksum and making them “outdated”. This new “hybrid” client has been tested not to crash.

Sounds weird, but it’s true… I’ll fix up stuff tomorrow.
Just for future reference, both the Mac and the Windows versions of LU used the exact same assets, so the windows assets ARE the mac assets, and vice versa. The only thing different was some of the client files (legouniverse.exe and legouniverse_mac.exe are slightly different in size as well as there were some DLL files on one that were not on the other). Mac used transgaming’s “cider” to port the game to Mac, but the asset files (videos, audio, PK files, aka all files under /client/res) are the same across both OSes.

I know Jon… it’s just I messed up the Windows client, so I was like, oh! The Mac client still works! What I forgot is that I could just re-download the files you uploaded, due to the fact I can mass download easily through FTP. Which I have just done, in fact.

Okay, so I’m setting a public server for me and my friends, but whenever I run it it crashes! It works fine when redirect_ip=local host, but when I change it to my IP address, it crashes. I have my ports set up right, is the problem that I don’t have enough space on my commputer? Also, I changed AUTHSERVERIP to my ip, and it worked both ways(as in the different redirect_ips)

No, the server is a separate download. And no, you cannot interact with other players connected to the same server.

Well, if there is a public server, you will not need Visual Studio at all. But otherwise, you will need 2013 or later to run the server yourself.

Ok so I’m pretty sure we are missing some world files, when I entered the Avant gardens checksum, manifest asset failure. When I enter the nimbus isle one, works perfectly. I haven’t tested others yet.
Not exactly. For places like Gnarled Forest, yes we are missing files. But the only “missing” files right now, are a couple of music file, which I have downloaded and used, which had no effect on the problem people are having.
