          some day, some old rich fan of LU is going to buy netdevil (or the rights to LU), and then it will be all good from there. i’d personally like to see it stay the same but just new levels, events, etc. until that day comes im left to wander around on the web looking for an LU replacement.

    • SPOILER// luHUB will be able to chat with other luHUB’s. This is one of the new features.

    • Chat is possible without replica manager; however, seeing other players will require a RM.

      • Yeah, the chat is easy, it’s just forwarding the packet to all connected clients. The thing is to identify, if a packet is a message or not.

        • Yes this will be that or else when you press shift in front of a rocket it will execute a command “/tp nimbusstation” etc.

          • 17 years old. Not joking, very serious. Surgery went well luckily, making a full recovery. No one said I was short sited, by that I meant that I would quit YouTube, which I won’t do. By ambassador I mean I make things easy for the new guys. You have say, a 11 year old, how does he know what do download? The nexus client doesn’t provide all the sounds, and they still have lots-o-questions, basically I dumb things down for people to understand :-/

          • Good to hear your recovering, that is quite the serious matter(Wasn’t sure if that was a dark joke or something, now I get it). That’s a good thing your doing, teaching younger kids to be able to make a private server for LU

Hey TimTech, i finally decided to give this a try, so far i downloaded the recommended server 0.5 and checked the config file, all fine and it runs. i also downloaded the latest “nexus” client for windows. Now here’s the thing, when extracted it already has a client folder with correct boot.cfg settings, in fact i can start, run and enter worlds. only thing missing is sound. i saw a tutorial on youtube from about a month ago, with the previous client and that one had sound upon startup. im still thinking this must be something on my pc but i saw another tutorial from today on youtube also without sound. is something wrong with the latest client? or do i need to use the installer folder and try to install into the default program files, because i tried that and it does not give a client folder, only a new isntaller folder within program files. beside this i think its great work trying to get LU going again.

    • Yes, we are having problems with sound. Ever since PATCHSERVERIP stopped serving its purpose I’ve been confused on the sound problems…

      • Thanks for the reply TimTech, i can live with no sound for now 🙂 it must be a frustrating job to get everything working all by itself. Also i have the same issue as Zerpimmler and CaptainTrust, only able to get one char no matter what i choose, and always starting in the same world. Checked the boot.cfg and authserverip and patchserverip are 0. Sorry i cant be of any help with how to resolve this, i work in tech support but nothing like this 🙂

        • Make sure these specifically are correct:

          AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost,

          and

          PATCHSERVERIP=0:,

            I installed LU but there was no client folder in the mentioned directory.I startetd it from the desktop.

            Also i uninstalled it an only started it from the extracted folder on my desktop.

    A big thank you from Austria for all your work! You ROCK!!

    BUT i have a Problem. I’ve read the FAQ and tried everything.

    It doesn’t matter which character I choose I start at the Nimbus Island. I have already checked my boot.cfg and tried everything.

    I’m thankfull for your help.

    • You have current versions of both the client and the server?

      • Just restart the Server when that happens

        i just extracted both files and started the LUNI Server and then i startet the game from the extracteted folder Desktop/ NexusClientnt by CD Facon/Mac/Client/Legouniverse.exe(don’t know the exact Name of the .exe)

        Every Thing starts fine, I can log in without Problems and choose a character. But I always start from the same Island

        • In your client’s boot.cfg make sure

          AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost,

          and that

          PATCHSERVERIP=0:,

  15. I have some Problems:
    1. I don´t hear sound
    2. If i make my own charakter, i can´t play
    3. Only Nimbus Isle with CheekyMonkey works, if i join with other charakters
    i get logg out.

    • 1. This is a common problem, I kind of fixed it but not really (some sounds but not all), I’ll send it to Tim as soon as I can.
      2. Also problem, can’t do anything about it though, priorities first.
      3. What client did you download?

      • The Nexus client by CD Falcon, ops, which do i have to download?

        • 1. That’s correct, CDFalcon says the fix is “In Mac/client/res/audio, take the files from NDAudio and put them in audio”.
          2. This isn’t implemented yet; you can make but only play with the pre-defined ones.
          3. I’ve heard re-downloading the server helps, I don’t know why though. (Works for about 1/2 of recent problems like this). In your client’s boot.cfg make sure

          AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost,

          and that

          PATCHSERVERIP=0:,
          • 1. In Mac/client/res/audio/NDAudio are Orders,
            shut i put all the orders in audio or the files in the orders?
            2. I have no NPC´s and On 3 worlds i have the same character…

  18. Okay, as the Nexus client is mine, I know how to fix most of the pro ilia people are having.

    Q= There are no sounds.
    A= In Mac/client/res/audio, take the files from NDAudio and put them in audio(this has worked for TheNyJan)

    Q= Only worlds that work are Nimbus Isle.
    NOTE// I have no clue why this is happening)
    A= 1. Change the worlds with HEX(will not give you npc’s for Nimbus Station)
    A= 2. This is harder, but Nimbus Station WILL work with a MySQL enabled server(I always keep one handy lol 🙂 )

    • Note the server can be easily enabled to work with mySQL by removing #define LUNI_NO_AUTH in the files, and re-compiling the server.

    • I downloaded the client and the server. I had the server open but the launcher won’t load. It says unable to download LEGO Universe. And the LUNI Launcher does nothing even with the legal mumbo-jumbo thing accepted.

      • The launcher is a side project that I can’t help you in troubleshooting. What I recommend is downloading the “Nexus” client and the server 0.5 and running them.

        • Ok. I got the game open. I did notice a few bugs. I’ll give you a list. For bug reporting protocol. Though it does give me hope being able to actually walk around in the game.

          1. I clicked on the other minifigures and it loaded cheekymonkey.
          2. Sometimes the game glitches by making me unable to click the tabs that allow to open up the inventory, passport, menu, etc.

          That’s all the bugs I noticed. I know this is only in like the equivalent of Redev but it is coming along very well.

    • Can’t, but this guy is old news, everyone knows he stole LUNI team work and claimed it as his own. Check the comment section 🙂

  19. We need to organize this better, what page will be for developing (launcher, official website, all sounds) what page will be for helping new people? Unless you can get that official site up and running with an interactive Q-A section (as well as FAQ [not to be confused with tim’s]) I see quite a few people who will just walk away confused. Remember the majority of people who want this game back are not very literate as far as computer lingo goes.

    • Hmm, I like it! luHUB will put up 2 Q&A’s, one for “People new to luHUB and LUNI”, and people who are “Old Timers” 😉
      Oh and we will still keep a normal forum.

      • A basic easy-to-use FAQ+Q and A page for newbies who want to play the game (and play again) and a Q and A page for troubleshooting and bug fixing problems found in whatever it is they are complaining about. Make the site as easy-to-use and the game as easy to play as possible, remember the audience.

        • Music don´t work, do i have to copy the folders from
          NDAudio to Audio or the files out of the order?

  21. After I’m done with the Lego Universe Setup Wizard, and I go to the activation screen, it says,” ERROR! We are unable to download Lego Universe. Please check your internet connection or go to www. LEGOUniverse.com for troubleshooting.”

    • There shouldn’t be any setup or install, just download + extract the files.

      • Just follow my steps to fix
        1. Download Nexus Client
        2. Download Recommended Server
        3. Download Visual Studio 2013 Desktop (the .exe file)
        4. Move the server files into:Nexus Client\Nexus Client\Mac\patcher\Data\Server
        5. Open Server.
        6. Open the .exe file called legouniverse_mac.exe and it will open. (It is in the Client Folder.)

  22. when i play the game there is no song or sound
    And where there should be the word sign in there is %ul_sign_in%
    what should i do?? i’m asking this for the fourth time!!

  23. Hey guys, small update, i tried the steps to get sound but for me that is not working. i also double tripple quadra penta checked the Authserverip and patchserverip but alas, nothing but that cheeky monkey :p. Redownloaded the server but got the same result.

    Just a small question about the sound solution. i took all files and folders from NDaudio and palced them in Audio like suggested, that did not work, tried to remove the NDaudio folder and still nothing. Could this somehow be a codec issue, since others do get sound, i wonder why this happens, the files are there but not playing.

    • Personally, with the new client sound won’t work for me either, however CDFalcon (who created the “Nexus” client), says that copying files from NDAudio to Audio worked for him, also I think TheNyJan said this worked for him. I don’t know, though, and I’d like them to clarify as well 🙂

  24. I have two things to say/ask.

    1. When you log in, are you supposed to use your own Lego ID?

    2. Every time I try to log in, it just gives me “Handshaking with authentication.” And also how do you fix the audio? I’m getting no audio

    • 1. No, any user/pass works.
      2. Make sure AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost, and PATCHSERVERIP=0:,
      3. Not sure, I think maybe moving sound from NDAudio to Audio…

      • How do I open the CFG File? My computer is giving me a lot of options.

        • I checked my boot.cfg file and it was exactly like you said and I copied all the files from NDAudio to Audio, but I’m still getting no audio and the ” forever ‘ handshaking with authentication'” I need help! I SERIOUSLY WANT TO PLAY LEGO UNIVERSE!

        • Use notepad or notepad++ to open it… also, it sounds like a server problem in this case. Can you copy and paste your config.ini?

    Not now, but maybe in end of 2015 / early 2016 ?

    • it`s quite difficult to know really, seeing how they have to use packet decoding to slowly recover the game. due to all the potential roadblocks and challenges, it`s doubtful that this would happen within 1-2 years, if at all. so sorry, no one is making any promises right now.

      • They have already decoded the needed packets, but now the are working on a Replica Manager… Basically, this allows the server to place copies(Replicas) of a base ai or item.

    • Well.. Everything is possible,

      The more people we get the more chances for Lu to return completely.

    I’m recovering from the TERRIBLE BACON ON BOARD THE CRUISE. Other than that, I’m fine! 😉
    I am just stating that I (accidently) messed up Travel. I am trying my hardest to look in my code and look and fix the error. It’s probably an extra dot or space or something rediculous like that XD

    • That stuff is too specific, it could be a capital I rather than lowercase l, some fonts there is no difference, especially the ones used in web design and basic script :p

  32. Okay, I *think*this will fix the sound probs. There are 2 possible ways to do it.
    1. If you still have the old audio files, remove NDaudio from that, put it in Audio, then put the new audio files into the folder(do not put in NDaudio, only it’s files)
    2.(Mabye, not sure) Change NDaudio’s name to ndaudio.

  33. Timtech, I am *thinking* about creating a new addin to the server… This would save the player’s location, so people don’t have to spawn at the same spot every time the get on. What do you think?

  35. I know what fixed my sound problem. On mine you had to put the sound files in and then in game go to settings and turn the music and sound on.

    • I have used LUPKExtractor and I show it under forkp\effects\celebration\celebrationSentinelShield\ Granted, in one of my runs of LUPKExtractor I don’t show it at all.

      • Color me stupid 🙂 I was looking in the wrong folder. I don’t show it on either of my extractions.

      • Ah. Ok. I wonder if it purposefully doesn’t extract when the game downloads… I’ve been trying to work on the patcher (mainly to see if people with a Mac can run the game again, since the patcher uses the transgaming technology) and I figured out how to make it work, although now it gives me two errors: 1 when I use the “Download During-Play” option and the other when I use the “Full Download” option.

        The first says that the file “forkpefx.pk” is too large (by a couple MB) and trys to download it. I compressed the files using the SD0 compression (using the “lib_segmented” compress function) and uploaded it to a XAMPP server while redirecting “cache.legouniverse.com” and “services.lego.com” to “127.0.0.1”. It works, but since the forkpefx.pk file is slightly larger than the one its trying to download, the checksum is wrong. If I change the checksum in frontend.txt and trunk.txt, it gives me errors that THOSE checksums are wrong in index.txt, and on up the chain.

        This is mainly because I think I used the full download option when I saved all the PK files, so the forkpefx.pk is slightly larger in full download than during-play. But when I try to download using the “Full Download” option, I get the error that it can’t find “celebrationSentinelSword4.psd”… So I was just wondering if you had that….

        But thanks for checking! BTW, do you think you can tell me the size of your “forkpefx.pk” file in bytes? I believe the client needs it to be 18350043 bytes, but mine is slightly larger.

        • My forkpefx.pk is 25,382,742 bytes. I also did the full download at the very beginning.

        • Ah. Wow! That’s a LOT larger than mine is! Hmmm… I figured out where the patcher checks for the checksum (all the patcher’s tasks are in library.zip/patcher_task.pyo) and I have converted all pyo file to py, but I get PYD DLL import errors trying to recompile anything. I’ve been changing my sys.path, but I stil get “DLL load failed” when trying to compile everything (mainly because I’m not very strong in Python). I’ve put the PYD files in the same folder as the PY files, and then I’ve appended that folder to sys.path, but I’m still getting the errors. Would you have any suggestions on this?

    CDFalcon has changed equipment in HEX, but if you press Play, its crashing your game, right ?
    So… it will be hard to do something that’s not crashing your game ?
    To play with changed in HEX equipment ?

    • Okay, the reason it is not working is because we don’t have a replica manager… But when we DO, then we can play with them.

    • You can’t really play yet, he’s just figuring out what equipment each byte is. I think that’s already been done for a lot of stuff though.

I have problems loading the world, on some the assets are missing (aleready downloadet the new here) and the rest load very very long (stuck on 1%).using the original client (with new assets) and the latest localhost server, whats to do?Visual Studio is not installed and how it look not needed, login and character work normal.

  43. Hey pwjones and Jon002, is there anyway I could help you guys? I do not have tons of xp in c++, but I am good at HEX. I also have access to every single origanal Macintosh LU file ever made lol, if needed for further development.

    Also, how is the progress coming on the replica manager?

Es ist cool aber es währe noch cooler wen man sachen umkleiden kann und nicht nur den char. hat den es wird nach 5 min einseitig ……. und das man sich einen neuen char. erstellen kann wen du eine lösung dafür finden soltest währe ich dir dankbar den dann ist lego universe komplet ich hab alles versucht aber bin immer gescheitert nun frag ich dich ob du da was machen kannst wen du eine lösung findest schreib mir eine mail oder schreib mir auf skype (gernewholders5)

    • Dabei wird derzeit zu kompliziert, aufgrund der Tatsache, dass es eine Replica-Manager erforderlich. Wenn Sie diese Seite gelegentlich zu lesen, werden Sie sehen, wenn Fortschritte erzielt werden.

I’m testing something out that IF it works, it will allow both PC AND Mac users to play LU (If it works, I will upload the LEGO Universe installer for Mac computers)

    • Okay, uploading to /lu/ right? Because if TheNyJan wants it in the patcher, he’ll probably re-upload it to /luni-launcher/ (although it could just be directly downloaded, no need for double the usage).

      By letting Mac users play, is this without a virtual machine? If so, it’ll be great!

    • Yes. Basically, I figured out how to compile the client files with the SD0 compression that cache.legouniverse.com used, as well as redirected the patcher to your site.

      So now, the patcher is trying to download all the .SD0 files from YOUR site, but they don’t exist (at least, not yet). That’s what I’m doing: creating the sd0 files, since their just the client files compiled with the .sd0 format :D. So basically, if everything goes according to plan, I will compile all the client files into SD0 files, and upload them to your site. From there, users will basically change their hosts file to point “services.lego.com” to your IP address (which can easily be obtained), and this will point them to (I am unable to upload these as I do not have access to the root folder of your site… Do you think you could create this and give my account ccess to the UniverseConfig folder?): timtechsoftware.com/UniverseConfig/UniverseConfig.svc/xml/MasterIndex, which will then load timtechsoftware.com/UniverseConfig/UniverseConfig.svc/xml/EnvironmentInfo, which in turn contains links to timtechsoftware.com/lu/luclient where I am uploading all the client files in .sd0 format.

      After getting this info, the client will then download the .sd0 files, decompress them, and place them in the /client folder of the LEGO Universe installation. So, in summary, once this is completed all you have to do is download the LEGO Universe patcher (which I have the .DMG and .EXE for the installer, which I will upload), open it, and sit back as it downloads all the necessary files, very similar to how it operated when LU was open

Also “TimTech Server” maybe “TimTech Software” (or TimTech’s server) but don’t take me as nit-picking; it looks great! 😀 And I love the U.S. flag logo.

      • Ah thank you! Basically its just the original LU launcher that I’ve modified. I’ve changed in the “EnvironmentData” file that there is one server: “TimTech Server” (which I can change). Second, I pointed the URL for the webpage (the launcher’s webpage) to a file on this site called default.html (http://timtechsoftware.com/lu/Launcher/default.html). So what can eventually happen is Tim can edit that file with any HTML editor to say whatever he wants it to: news, updates, help, etc.

    • I’m working stuff out with him to get it done fast. I’d say if he’s finished, it’ll be less than a week to get stuff set up on my end and get his stuff uploaded.

    • Right now, I’m working on uploading the files to Tim’s site as SD0 files (using LEGO Universe’s SD0 compression system). That will take some time as it is saved under some weird folders: (Ex: /a/1/a1……..(random letters/numbers).sd0). The first folder is the first letter/number of the sd0 checksum, the second folder is the second number/letter of the sd0 checksum, and the file itself is saved with the sd0 checksum as the file name.

      However, progress COULD possibly be hindered since the checksums must EXACTLY match what the patchers wants (for now). If I even add a byte to the file, the checksum changes and the patcher crashes.
