  1. Okay, I would like several things cleared up about LUNI development.

    1. What devs are still working on LUNI?
    2. Are all/most of the packets decoded, and for the minifig packets, do you know how to emplant the list of objects(aka actually use them.)
    3. What devs are working on the Replica Manager.
    4. pwjones, if the answer to question 2 is yes, what are you working on?

I would like to help the devs as much as I can, however I need to know where I can do so.
If you guys ever need help, just post on this page.

    • humanoid24 and lcdr are still working on it. Last I checked, they were working on the replica manager, game objects, etc. I actually work (and have children) so I do not have a lot of time to work on it 🙁 I do try to keep up with progress and check here from time to time. I saw where Jan002 has the patcher working, which is AWESOME!

If by “decoded” you mean do they know what the different headers mean and/or contain, then yes, they know them for the most part. There are a few that they have guessed but will not be able to confirm until the replica manager is complete.

      • Okay thank you 🙂
Do you know if any of them need help with any aspects of the project? Game files, ect?

  2. Then did you all think is the finish absolutly finish Public Server finish???

  3. I looked on the luhub site. And is step 2 off the development process all of the functionality? (Ex. Enemies, rockets, etc.)

  4. can you set the server files for me its hard for me its confusing.

  5. A friend of mine was wondering if you guys could make a program which allows you to create your own enemies or edit their textures so that they look differently when you’re on nimbus isle.
    Can you?

  6. Alright. I need to ask a favor. For some weird reason my forkpefx.pk is a few bytes larger than it is supposed to be. If you have this file: “forkpefx.pk” in your /client/res/pack folder, then please check the size of the file in bytes. The one I need is supposed to be 18350043 bytes in size. If you find it, please tell me!

Also, if you have happened to have decompiled the .PK files with LUPK Extractor or the FAT Extractor, and so have “/client/res/forkp/effects/celebration/celebrationSentinelSword/celebrationSentinelSword4.psd”, please tell this to me as well!

  7. I’m back! after a while, I was here many months ago and I thought ill give this another go, and once Jon002 is done the patcher I’ll be set. btw jon002 thank you very much

    • Your welcome! I really hope I can finish this soon. Everything is pretty much set, but I do need a new version of “forkpefx.pk” for it to download properly.

      -Jon002

  8. I was playing around, and it kicks me for not downloading manifests. I cannot get back in!
PS: Can you equip anything not on the character already?

  9. I’m pausing the development of my server client until the summer break – I am falling behind with GCSE stuff etc…
I’m happy to help with other people’s projects though.
@Jon002 I can help with your patcher News template! And can you change the logo in the patcher? I’ve found some files in the LU folder in ./client/res that can modify the GUI slightly as well! Maybe change the logo to @RoboWarrior ‘s LUNI logo?

    • It’s apparently an HTML that’s on the website, at least the main content.

I hope the patcher is out soon now that Jon has the right forkpefx.pk 🙂

  10. will you ask for money in-game?

    like memberships\rare items\maps\enemies\limits

    or 100% free-for-all?

  11. OK, I reinstalled and unzipped everything, and I log in and it sits there “Submitting Username”

    • Make sure server+client are running; also in config’s boot.cfg make AUTHSERVERIP=0:localhost, and in server’s config.ini make sure redirect_ip=localhost

  12. Hey, timtech! when do you think the replica manager is going to be done?

Also, when you finish the server. What’s next? Are you going to make new worlds? Or what?

    • I myself am not working on either. Jon and I are trying to get the patcher working, which has not been done since the closing of LEGO Universe.

(Actually, he did the work and I gave him a file he needed 😉 )

  13. Lol my brother is getting mad at me for not installing LUNIserver onto his computer. I haven’t yet because of jon002’s patcher, which would make a lot of things a lot easier for him. I’m counting on you Jon! I can keep stalling for another month or two, maximum.

  14. Hey Tim, do you think you could send me the FTP username for /UniverseConfig? I tried the one I normally use with the pass you sent me, but its not working.

  15. Alright everyone, good news! I managed to get the patcher to download all necessary files, so now it loads to 100% and allows you to play!!!!! However, it only loads the files necessary to start the game, so I am currently compressing some of the extracted PK files and will upload those as well.

Also, Mac users, even better news: IT WORKS FOR YOU TOO!!! In fact, I just fresh-installed LEGO Universe and used the patcher to download my files, and it works!

Here are some images to confirm (these were taken on a mac 🙂 )

Last thing, I have tested this on both PC and Mac, so what I will do is upload the files pretty soon (it’ll take a little while to do…). When I’m done, I will upload the DMG and EXE installers for LEGO Universe, and allow users to play quickly and easily. Stay tuned!

    Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
    -Jon002

    • The files are currently uploading, and I will release an installer either tomorrow or Monday (at the most Wednesday).

Now, unfortunately, Mac users, the server itself still requires a Windows computer to play, so you still have to have both, but at least if your Mac is faster than your windows PC, you can play it on there and connect it to the server (or connect it to a server that is online somewhere).

Another thing, currently you can just log in. Textures/Mesh/etc appear pink right now due to the fact that I am beginning to upload the client files (The files that the patcher downloads are from “frontend.txt”, now the client itself downloads the files from “trunk.txt”). When you start the patcher, you MUST select “During-Play (Hi-speed)” in the Option menu to play properly (as “Full Download” tries to download files I have not yet uploaded). Also, currently worlds are unplayable due to the fact I have not uploaded the LUZ or LVL files yet. But I will! Stay tuned!

      -Jon002

      • Nice work! Also mac users, I think I can get my server working, so you can play on a mac!

      • Hey, bad news.

I’m working hard to reduce analytics + unnecessary plugins, but whatever you’re doing might be causing this problem. I’m keeping it restricted until we can pinpoint the problem. (This actually shouldn’t affect usage of the website, as it’s “restricted” right now and I don’t notice much going wrong).

        • I couldn’t imagine what is causing this problem….
          Nice work Jon002 and TimTech!

        • Hmmm… None of the files I’ve uploaded run any kind of script… They’re all just compressed files in the SD0 format (basically, it’s similar to me uploading a ton of ZIP files). Wonder what could be causing the problem…

Also, what do mean by “restricted”? Does that affect the files in “http://www.timtechsoftware.com/lu/luclient”?

          Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
          -Jon002

          • Doesn’t affect files… (?) it means I cannot use more than 25% of the CPU power allocated to me (since I am on shared hosting). It seems fine to me, and I have not noticed any adverse effects 🙂

    • What is gained if this whole thing works?

      • A much more streamlined installation. No more asking about client versions + .pk files + boot.cfg.

      • All you have to do (now, since Tim’s site is not a dedicated IP address, rather it is shared) is a couple of small things. First, you will need XAMPP or MAMP installed. Next, you will download the UniverseConfig folder that I will upload and place it in the htdocs folder of you XAMPP or MAMP installation and start the server. Then, you edit your hosts file to point “services.lego.com” (you may want to delete and re-add this line in different situations as some of LEGO.com uses this server for various things) to “127.0.0.1”, install the patcher, and run the game!

        Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
        -Jon002

        • I’m confused about client updates. Does it uninstall then Re-install your client? Or does it stick the new files in their folders (making new if necessary) into the existing client, if it’s possible?

          • Basically what it does is it checks the current files with the ones needed using the MD5 checksum. If the patch server and client file md5 does not match, it deletes the file and re downloads it. For those who already have the client downloaded on a PC, it’s useful but not completely necessary. For Mac users or PC users that do not have it downloaded, it is very useful as it makes it easy to check/download the files during the game without taking up so much space (as I’m using the During-Play option right now).

            Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
            -Jon002

        • Makes me sad not to have a dedicated IP… why can’t it be “timtechsoftware.com” instead of “services.lego.com”?

By the way, I’m upgrading to get one in January 2015 (as far as I know).

          • Cool! That would be awesome! A dedicated IP would make everything a lot easier!

About the website name, basically, the services.lego.com is hardwired into the python scripts that the patcher users (I figured out how to compile them, but it gives all kinds of errors for Mac users that I really don’t want to deal with). I’ve tried to change it, but its pretty hard, so what users will do is install XAMPP/MAMP and place the UniverseConfig folder in htdocs, while pointing services.lego.com to 127.0.0.1 in the hosts file.

            -Jon002

          • In 2 months, you shall have your wish 😉

          • Awesome! Can’t wait! It’ll just make things so much easier…

            Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
            -Jon002

          • I know, maybe I should upgrade already 😛 but I am kind of short on funds and would like to wait until my current plan is almost done.

    • Hey Jon,

I heard you have problems with timtechs site not having it’s own IP. If you want, you can upload your files to one of my vps servers (or maybe I have a storage server for it, need to check it). All I need to know is how big the files are, since storage is really limited with my hoster. But I’ll see if I’ve got a vps around that Is not in use (or at least so little that it can host another project) 🙂

      rgds,
      TheNyJan

Ps: I’m kinda cutting my own flesh here, aren’t I? 😀 But is better than nothing for now and when luhub comes out, I have competition, which always help making a projects result better. Maybe it’s not that bad 🙂

      • Sure! I can try to use your site for now (I guess until Tim get a dedicated IP, mainly because I want to make everything on one site). Basically I need the IP Address of the server (no ports as the hosts file cannot resolve websites to xxx.xxx.x.xx:port) as well as FTP login details to either the root folder, or the /UniverseConfig folder (on the root section, so the server is http://ipaddress/UniverseConfig/). You can email them to me here: jonathanhart3000@gmail.com

    • Great progress Jon002! (I saw them yesterday and saved them 😉 )

Looks like we going to have: All access to all worlds, pets, characters, etc.

Keep up the good work! 😉

  16. Hi, I’m going to start on the .html file for the patcher. What do you want me to include on it?

    • Hmmm…. Anything! Perhaps some news of the current state of LUNIServer, some info on how to setup the server, links to Tim’s site, etc. Anything to keep people updated!

      Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
      -Jon002

    • Tristan, will you continue the development of your server in near future?

      • Maybe. But I think I need to sort out my priorities:

        No. 1 – Family, friends.
        No. 2 – JUMP Radio
No. 3 – Fixing people’s phones, tablets etc… and LU

  17. Alright everyone. I have uploaded the patcher and the files, so here is a tutorial (Tim, you may want include the tutorial on an actual page):

    LEGO Universe Installer Tutorial

Before Beginning: This may look like a lot, but trust me: it shouldn’t be. I’ve just gone into a lot of extra details so that the average Joe who lives in a cave with no education could install this server as well 🙂

Also, as of right now, since I have not uploaded all the client files, the actual LUNIServer is unplayable as trying to load it results in a 404 Not Found error when downloading the Nimbus Isle LVL and LUZ files, as well as the character’s on the character screen of LU have pink pieces (to represent missing textures). But I’m working on this, so stay tuned!

    Part 1: XAMPP/MAMP
1 – Go to https://www.apachefriends.org/download.html (for Windows users) or http://www.mamp.info/en/downloads/ (for Mac Users) to download XAMPP for Windows or MAMP for Mac
2 – Install MAMP or XAMPP by downloading the installer and installing the files.
3 – Run “MAMP.app” in the /Applications folder or “Xampp_Control.exe” (I believe this is the name) in (most likely) the C:\xampp folder to start the application
4 – Start both the Apache and MySQL servers for XAMPP or click “Start Servers” for MAMP
5 – Make sure everything is working, and then stop the servers (make sure to remember how to re-start them later)

    Part 2: UniverseConfig Download
    1 – Download the UniverseConfig.zip file from here (http://timtechsoftware.com/lu/InstallerDownloads/UniverseConfig.zip)
2 – Place the “UniverseConfig” folder in the htdocs folder of the MAMP/XAMPP installation (htdocs is located in (assuming you installed XAMPP to C:\) C:\xampp\htdocs\, or for MAMP it is in /Applications/MAMP/htdocs/)

Part 3: Editing the UniverseConfig info
1 – Inside the UniverseConfig folder, do to /UniverseConfig/UniverseConfig.svc/xml/ and locate the file “EnvironmentInfo”.
2 – Open this file with any text editor
3 – Look for the location in the file (possible use the search feature) for the XML tag “”. IF the LUNIServer is ran on the same machine as the XAMPP/MAMP server with the UniverseConfig folder, don’t change anything. Otherwise, change “127.0.0.1” to point to the computer’s IP address of your server.
    4 – Save the file.

    Part 4: Edit HOSTS file
1 – Find your hosts file (“/private/etc/hosts” for Mac or “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts” for PC)
2 – MAKE SURE TO BACK IT UP!!!!!!!!!!!! (You don’t want to accidentally corrupt the file and remember that you forgot to back up the hosts file 🙂 )
3 – Copy the file to another folder (such as Document) and, using a text editor, add to the bottom of the file “127.0.0.1 services.lego.com” (This will redirect “services.lego.com” to localhost, which has the IP address of 127.0.0.1… Now, you may want to delete and re-add this at various times as LEGO still uses this site)
4 – Save the file, and replace the current hosts file with the edited version
5 – Restart the MAMP or XAMPP server

    Part 5: Downloading the patcher
1 – Download the patcher from here: Mac Installer: http://timtechsoftware.com/lu/InstallerDownloads/LegoUniverseMacDMG_82.dmg, or Windows Installer http://timtechsoftware.com/lu/InstallerDownloads/LEGO_Universe_Install.exe
2 – Now, install the patcher and open LEGO Universe.app (on Mac) or the LEGO Universe launcher (on Windows)
3 – Run the patcher and watch LU download!!!

Enjoy this tutorial!!! Please, ask any questions if you don’t understand anything!

PS: Currently, you can only run the LUNIServer on a PC, so technically to play on a Mac, you must also have a PC as well, so this tutorial should be very for those who want to easily download files on Windows, those who love patchers, and those who have a PC and a Mac that is much faster, so that they can use the PC to host the files

  18. Okay, I am trying something new. We have the launcher for mac right? My new projecti is LUNI for mac.

I will be using Xcode for Mac, and should have a base server out soon after Christmas at max. My question is, will the parts of RakNet that are needed work on a mac?

    -CDFalcon

    • Basically, its best to include the entire RakNet library in your project. Now, I’ve tried using Xcode to compile the LUNIServer but the clang++ compiler keeps giving me errors about the server… but good luck! Hope you can manage to get everything to work! (I also know very minimal C++, so its a little hard for me. I just haven’t taken much time to try to work out all the errors).

      Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
      -Jon003

      • Okay, Ive found an interesting app that runs Visual Studip files on a mac… Going to check it out.

  19. Hey, timtech.

I was wondering, could I do an interview with you and some other developers of the LUNI server?

  20. Hi I tried ,and got the nexus version but when i installed it it was a mac version and i have a windows.

  21. Ok here are the questions for the interview:

#1; What drives you everyday to work on this Server every single day?

#2; What is the hardest problem that you have faced while developing? (And if you fixed it, how did you fix it?)

#3; Some people think this project is dead, that it can’t grow more then this. Do you think their right?

#4; The people that are more confident in the project think the project will be (almost.) Finished late 2015/early 2016. Do you think it’ll be finished by then?

#5; The LUNI server has apparently been noticed by The LEGO Group recently. Do you think they will advertise the LUNI server. And secondly, do you think they’ll want to take advantage or even buy th LUNI server so they get easy money?

#6; LEGO universe is a game loved by millions. Do you think the project will gain more attention as the development goes along?

#7; LuHub has been a major part of LEGO universe fans hope to play the game again. How largely are you affiliated with luhub?

#8; And lastly, will the game ever work on Linux? 😉

    Thank you

    • Even though I am not “officially” part of LUNI, I can answer a few of these questions.

      1. Lego Universe was my fav game. Ever.

      2. I was not here for the beginning of LUNI, but Authorization was very difficult.

      3. This project is not dead. It will be hard to grow, but very possible.

      4. Personally, yes.

      5. No, 100% no.

      6. Yes.

      7. luHUB is a community add-on.

      8. Idk about Linux, but I am working on a Mac server, and it is going great.

    • Well, I’ve been with the LUNIServer team ever since it was really created (back in 2012), so here goes:

1: LEGO Universe was an amazing game. I loved to play it (in fact I probably logged over 2-3 hundred hours… maybe more). I also love to program in various computer languages, so the LUNIServer project felt right at home for me: I could program my favorite game! What drives me right now (since most of the developing is done in the background by the main devs) is that I wish to make it as simple as possible for the LEGO Universe community to re-download and play the game once more, hence my work on the LEGO Universe patcher.

2: Pretty much everything is hard. I, personally, was trying to get the Worlds to work with the ReplicaManager a few months ago, but I was never really able to accomplish that (I believe humanoid and lcdr are currently working on this though). Another very hard problem was probably the authentication server. This took months (maybe even a year or a little more) to develop. But we finally finished it and now we have a rough, basic, barely-working server available to download (the v5 server that Tim has uploaded)

3: The project has never been more alive! While it is true that the developers (humanoid24 and lcdr) have not released any progress, they are still (correct me if I am wrong pwjones) hard at work on trying to get the server working, they just are not going to release anything until it is done or playable.

4: I hope so. Since I am not in active contact with anyone developing the server, I really do not know. According to an earlier post by pwjones, he said that its possible it could be released late 2015, but they could finish it earlier or not at all, so I would say right now, late 2015/early 2016 is a good guess, but it could easily change.

5: Personally, I do not believe LEGO will advertise this. In fact, a moderator, Keighlian, on the LEGO Message Boards, posted that, “While we are impressed by your resolve to resurrect LEGO Universe, any wish and effort to do so should be a private affair.” Its possible if this becomes popular enough and exceeds greatly the amount of subscribers that are willing to pay (willing… we cannot actually charge any money for this) that they COULD (very unlikely) release LEGO Universe again, although they definitely would not buy it from us, rather, they would re-set up what they already have.

6: A lot of members of the old LU community (and even some that were not) have already noticed this. Once an actual release it uploaded, I believe it will explode! Although, this could be wrong…

7: I’m not too affiliated with LuHub. I do think it’s a great idea for the community, and I do support it highly though!

8: That’s a VERY tough question to answer. LEGO Universe was never available on Linux, so we don’t have any native clients. Editing the actual client itself could get us in (possibly) legal trouble as LEGO still owns the client files, so I don’t know. All someone needs to do it create a launcher that runs the legouniverse.exe file on a Linux computer, but I don’t know if that is really possible.

An afternote for any of this, feel free to quote me on anything! Just make sure to cite that it was me that said it! 🙂

      Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
      -Jon002

      1. The community; the people that have problems, the people that ask questions.
      2. Getting the packets decrypted and decoded (auth. packets for v5) was very complicated.
      3. No, we have continual progress.
      4. No, I don’t think it will ever be completely “finished”.
      5. No, the LEGO Group has known about the project for years. I don’t think they will advertise or buy this server; if they do re-open it that would happen with their original servers.
      6. Yes, we get new visitors on a daily basis.
      7. “luHUB” is kind of a shiny display of the LUNIServer. It just shows the progress and software and tutorials that have been presented by the developers and community.
      8. Maybe with some kind of a virtual machine, but we will probably never have a native client for it.
    • I’ll just say what I think, it’s up to you if you want to use it or not 🙂

1: I’m driven to develop luHUB (not actually the real server) by the good old memories. I do miss LU und since I love coding (and learning how to code) it’s a great opportunity to develop some new skills.

2: My inability to work on a project for longer than 4-5 days without distracting myself too much.

3: A project is never dead as long as there are still people believing in it’s success.

4: I (personally) have no idea about when this project is going to be finished.

5: I don’t think LEGO will ever advertise Universe again. On the official page, they said it’s closed forever and it would hurt the sellings of Minifigures Online.

6: I guess. It’s already loved by many of us, so we’ll have to see.

7: luHUB itself is not actually helping the server advance, it’s an alternative launcher meant to introduce features a newly built up Universe could need. For example, we won’t have only 6 or 8 servers for all players but many small ones hoste by individual people. A serverbrowser and features like joining a server a friend is playing on would add to the experience a lot. luHUB itself, through, does not deliver a LUNI server, it uses Tristans server (I guess it’s called Tristan Universe, but I’m not sure). So, luHUB itself will not make the game playable again or help in that manner. Tristans server does.

8: I guess not without a virtual machine but who knows.

      Thank you.

  22. Its been a little wile since Ive been on here but I just downloaded the Nexus Client but when I start it up there is now sound so how do I fix it?

  23. Wow, there is a lot doing on… Jon002? Is your patcher finished, where can I download it?

  24. HappyAngryCatfish November 26, 2014 @ 1:08 AM

What’s this new patcher Jon made do?

    • Downloads the client files and launches them. It’s a big thing for Mac users, who won’t have to use a virtual machine to play anymore.

  25. I think it’s good that we can play LU now on Windows and Mac. And you have all really make a good job but where is now the problem that can’t make a Public Server?

  26. Wow… I havent been here in awhile… And I’m just stupefied…. Is there combat yet..? Could we change worlds without entering a code..?

Sorry if you get spammed these questions xD

  27. Hey, I’ve got a Problem.

I just downloaded the Nexus Client, But the only folder I get is Mac, And instead of the ZIP Being 4 GB, It’s about 200 MB.

    Any fixes for this?

“The program can’t start because MSVCP120D.dll is missing from your computer. Try reinstalling the program to fix this problem.” I got this message after my first attempt to start up LUNI Server.exe. What is MSVCP120D.dll?!

  29. Hey, uh..
    I’m just gonna ask if..
can you create your own minifigure?
    will this still get updated?
if it does get updated, then do i need to reinstall/download the WHOLE thing again? or is there like a updater or some sort.
oh and lastly, I have no sounds. literally no sounds. no menu music, sounds just all sounds are gone.
dont tell me to redownload it since it was 4gb… (zipped) and when i extracted it its about 11gb… so yeah.

  30. the white screen pops up but then it goes away what should i do?????

  31. i may have found the sounds that were missing. remember about a month ago i said i had most of the sounds working? well it turns out most people do, you can only hear them in nimbus station. otherwise all you hear is music and some power-ups. have you checked the file sizes of the ones from ndaudio and NDAudio? the punching sound effect im willing to bet money isnt there because the capital Weapons_Non-Streaming is a whopping 143 kb! the lowercase one from ndaudio is 3,394 kb! but when you combine the files to access all worlds, the Weapons_Non-Streaming becomes the used one and the lowercase one gets a (2) next to it, making it unrecognizable by the client. im going to test this theory by taking the capital weapons sound file out, and getting rid of the (2) on the lowercase weapons sound file. hopefully this is the problem. wish me luck.

    • hehe, guess who just fixed the sounds?

      • 😀
        @Jon your sounds work right

        • one sound that bothers me still doesn’t work, the stupid quicksicle. everything else i tested i cant find any missing sounds. is it OK if i send it to you without that working or do you want me to dig around and try to fix it? oh btw, the reason the music at the concert is different is because we don’t have the updated music file for that area, we only have the original one. so either we deal with it or we forge a recording (like the soundtrack on youtube) and refit said recording to be compatible with the client.

          • got the powerup noises fixed too. quicksicle, that dragon staff tooth thing, the armor polish, all works with sounds again. there are more missing sounds that need fixing but you cant even tell that they’re missing because you cant to the actions yet, like rockets not making proper noises and pets with missing barks and whatnot…

          • Great, just stick with the originals wherever you can find them.

  32. HELLO,

Can any where help me i have a important question about objects and files.
I want all music files and all the Icons (Inventory Icon etc..).

I can help much but i need the files.
Please e-mail to respond to: galaktus99@web.de

      • Okey i dont’s find the Inventory Icon (Golden Backpack), can you send me the raw Map Files (.obj/.3ds) and can i edit the Map Files in Cinema4D??

        thx

        • The map files are currently in the LVL format, which can be opened by an internat program that LEGO uses nicknamed Happy Flower. I don’t know what you mean by the .obj or .3ds files…. None of the client files or decompiled client files from the PK files contain any .obj or .3ds files. The closes thing I can think of is the .nif files that can be opened in NifSkope and from there can be converted to .obj or .3ds. But these are not the map files, they are the 3D mesh files (in the mesh folder of the decompiled PK files, which you can us the LUPKExtractor to decompile them). That may be what you are thinking of. Hope this helps though 🙂

          • How can i download Happy Flowers?
I make a own Lego Game with 3d Objects.

          • There is no way to download it. The only way to obtain it is currently to either work for LEGO or to contact their management and somehow work out a deal (don’t ask me how… all I know is that is will most likely will involve an NDA as well as a whole bunch of money). But what you can do is find the 3D NIF files and convert those to OBJ or 3DS and then use a program such as Unity3D to create a game.

Also, I would warn about using LU assets in a game…. Kelvin, another programmer who tried to do the same, was contacted by LEGO and forced to stop (as LEGO still owns the client assets).

          • You’re right, “Happy Flower” is a private program used by the LEGO company that cannot be downloaded or used by the public.

  33. ...An unknown minifig December 3, 2014 @ 3:58 PM

Would it be possible to spawn characters, pets, items, etc. without being able to interact with them? Would it be easier?

  34. Sorry I’ve been gone, under a lot of pre-holiday pressure.
Does anybody know what will happen if I change the packet pathway to send a dragon file?

    • What exactly do you mean? Do you mean send a packet that would normally spawn a dragon? I guess that depends… I’ve n really tried it before. Perhaps try sending it in an area that normally has dragons and see what happens!

      -Jon002

      • Like how we changed the clothes, except it would be changing the path to a different file.

        • How would I choose where it spawns, or shows up?

        • I don’t believe we can actually change the clothes ingame yet (although, there may have been an accomplishment I haven’t heard of!) That is the ReplicaManager’s job. Now, you CAN change the clothes that show up on the minifigs in the character selection screen, but currently that does not actually change them ingame.

As for the dragon spawning, I really have no idea. I’m not that familiar with the RM packets, and many of them look very similar…. What packet are you wanting to send? Maybe I can take a look at it…

  35. So do you want me to send you the client for re-upload or should I just tell you what files to replace/rename? Btw the new client should be called “nexus 2.0” because it’s still CDFalcon’s files, even if they were part of the problem :p

  36. Alright, I am complete with the full download option for the patcher (although there are a couple PK files that you have to download and place them in the /client/res/pack folder. You can download them here: http://timtechsoftware.com/lu/InstallerDownloads/MissingPKFiles.zip).

First, using the tutorial here: http://timtechsoftware.com/?page_id=1932, download the patcher, install it, and download the necessary files using the “During Play (Hi-speed) download option (found in the Settings of the patcher).

Next, after it is done downloading, download the missing PK files using the above link and copy them to your /client/res/pack folder. Overwrite the ui1.pk file (or skip it… it doesn’t matter. I accidentally included it with the ZIP file)
    *** (Windows is usually located in C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Software\LEGO Universe\client\res\pack)
*** (Mac is usually located in /Applications/LEGO Universe.app/Contents/Resources/transgaming/c_drive/LEGO Software/LEGO Universe/client/res/pack… You can get to this by either pressing Cmd+Shift+”G” on your keyboard or right-clicking “LEGO Universe.app” and clicking “Show Package Contents”)

Lastly, after steps 1 and 2 are done, open the Settings in the LEGO Universe patcher and change the download option to “Full Download”. Wait until it downloads and then click “Play”!

    Hope this helps!

    • Great… do you know triver is still developing the server on his own? All of the LUNIServer repositories haven’t been updated.

      • Do you mean the LUNIServer repositories on sourceforge? I do not believe lcdr and humanoid will release anything until their server is complete (which may be next year). I believe we just have to be patient for it.

  37. I’m confused. So, I got the server up and running correctly (AFAIK, anyway).

I extracted the Nexus Client.zip, and ran the LU installer.exe.

I was supposed to the go to C:\Program Files (x86)\LEGO Software\LEGO Universe\client, but I have no client folder after I’ve installed it, so I can’t change the boot.cfg file, because I cannot find it.

    What did I do wrong?

    • It’ll be wherever you extracted the Nexus Client.zip

      • OK.

Well, I inspected the boot.cfg file and it appears to already have the correct values in place.

So I should launch Lego Universe.exe? That’s what I’ve been doing, and I get an error message telling me that it is unable to download the game.

        • I managed to start the game by launching legouniverse_mac.exe and signed in, but when I select a character, it says, “Client disconnected. Connection failed to download file manifest assets.”

  38. Hey ! 🙂
    Something new here ? 😛

  39. Guys, I was wondering. Would it work if we imported the assets and created a server in the Gamebryo engine? (Gamebryo is the engine LU was coded in. 😉 )

    • We can’t. Kelvin tried that and was warned by LEGO. Basically, LEGO still owns the assets of the game, so if we edit those in any way or include them in anything, they have grounds for legal action against us. Don’t worry though. LEGO Universe WILL return. I know it!

      Answer the Call. Save Inagination.
      -Jon002

    • I actually tried something, like that. I also contacted every single option at gamebyro, no dice.

  40. Well, gamebryo isn’t owned by LEGO or NetDevil. All we need to do is IMPORT the assets and create a server in the engine.

  41. Hey, LUNI Server developers. I hope it is alright, but I made an unofficial trailer for LUNI.

    Unofficial trailer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dGVubRKyB5w

    Hope you guys like it.

  42. so me and my friends tried to install the game, but we couldnt figure out how to install it correctly. we tried our best, but we didnt know where to put some of the files or some of the files werent there. So if there were a link for an installer that dowloaded everything you needed to play (and play it with eachother) we would be thankfull and happy 🙂

  43. First thing: thank you, a lot. I remember playing this with my little brother and that was fantastic.
Second thing: I still have the original launcher, can I use that somehow instead of downloading your client?

    • 1. You’re welcome 🙂
      2. No, the (incomplete) original files from CD were patched by the LEGO servers, and you will have to use the nexus client or jon’s patcher to get the necessary files.

  44. why in nexus client there is only mac and not windows folder please answer to me

  45. So Timtech, Jon, I hear alot about getting servers up and running…but what about the actual client itself? Wouldn’t it be more important to get the client with entities/Xp orbs/rockets/achievements/bosses etc working first? Oh and what exactly does the patcher do? Lastly, do you think you could livestream on twitch or do some event where you code/work on LU and see if you can get the new no VS update or some other thing working with a few other people on skype? That sounds cool to me and I am sure everyone would be glad to watch, Please reply, Grant

    • The client is complete; the server is what needs work. There really isn’t enough progress to account for a livestream or twitch either…

      • Wait wait wait…so you mean all the achievements/worlds/rockets/XP orbs/no VS/ entities are all out? Is that what Jon002 got?

        • Ok I just read Kyle’s post after I posted, when I said the client I meant the full working game, as in with all the entities/achievements/XP orbs etc…working.

Any idea when any of the stuff I listed above will get working? And some of the maps are not fully complete, do you know how to get those working?

          • The things you listed are not schedule to be added in the near future. The problem with incomplete maps is that we only have packets for entities near spawn, and we need to be able to dynamically construct the packets.

  46. hey timtech so are all the areas in the map complete ? do all mobs spawn and all npc there or is it jsut the basic world with no npcs or mobs also can you travel by rocket now to other places

    • Very incomplete; no mobs/npcs (except for a few maps) and rocket travel doesn’t work yet… sorry 😐

      • dont worrie im gunna follow you guys till the end 😀 cant wait you guys are the best you recreating the best game ive play yet and i apreciate how long its gunna take after all its like 20 gb of game if i remeber when i downloaded it chear anyway though

  47. Hi guys! I was bored, so I made a small HTML5 smartphone app for luHUB(or LUNI)
It is not much, but is has Startreklover’s vids, a link to luhub, and(the main reason I built it, a live chat room! So we can live chat with each other lol.
Well, don’t be prepared for a masterpiece, but here it is

    http://h.fanapp.mobi/luniserver

  48. hey is the nexus 2.0 up yet? people on my channel are getting a bit antsy waiting for the sounds fix.

  49. Martin Lindstrom December 12, 2014 @ 7:28 PM

I start the Launcher but it gives TONS of “not found” messages. Like Ip, client, version and blablabla. I installed the installer thats on the website but as you say “go to Client and change the Boot.cfg file, its not there. Help Please! 🙂

    • Martin Lindstrom December 12, 2014 @ 8:17 PM

I wanted to Edit a thing! The client is broken… It misses the whole Client folder.

    • If you are using my patcher, it sounds as if you have not either started XAMPP (or MAMP on a Mac) or there is no EnvironmentConfig file in /htdocs/UniverseConfig/UniverseConfig.svc/xml/ in your XAMPP or MAMP installation. Does this help at all?

      Answer the Call. Save Imagination.
      -Jon002

      • I think he’s downloaded the “Nexus” client by CDFalcon. There should be a boot.cfg in the client once extracted.

        • Martin Lindstrom December 13, 2014 @ 5:23 PM

hello tim! i found the problem, i didnt “extract” the files i simply copy/pasted and it didnt extract all files when i did that 🙂 now i have a boot fileso it should work fine. thought it says “mac/client” and “legouniverse_mac” should it still work if I’m on windows?
