  11. I was looking at Replica Manager… I have no idea how I would implement that stuff. 😛 Probably doesn’t help that I don’t really have much knowledge on C++ program structure (ie headers and such). lol

    Will there be anything I can do development-wise that at max requires doing coding on existing infrastructure, and not doing stuff from the ground up?

PICK ME!) assuming he picks me i’ll have our MCLU team put together on planet minecraft and here. our current team planned so far…

    • LNA was one of the first fan groups along with BUILD and TLT, and is currently the farthest along. Their graphics are getting better, but they haven’t done much testifying or lighting…

      Shame about BUILD. I’ve seen too many splits and stopped projects in the LEGO community because of personal/group distinction. Honestly rather pathetic IMO.

  20. Also I think the whole min craft thing to recreate it is just too far. I think we should continue doing this. Because we have most of everything to bring it back but we just need to put it back together. Anyways doing that in mine craft would need mods with a LONG time of coding. So this is what I was thinking.

      To make plugins could bring the venture explorer and the avant gardens back only…
      For the rest of LU we would need to code mods because of too many items and stuff.

Tim if you decide just start us off in a flat world in creative and hopefully you’ll op us as Mythrans so we can begin building i think we have enough builders for now 😀 I just want to contribute and this side project will give us who can’t do much on the LUNI server a way to contribute. and i think that’s just what we’ll call it…LUNIcraft…i can’t wait to start building

    I have completed my documentation of the LUNIServer source, as well as character creation. I am wrapping a few things up, cleaning up some code, and then, hopefully very soon, am going to release server version 0.6!

    • Great to hear. Would it be possible for me to help develop whatever’s next? As I mentioned earlier, I don’t know enough about c++ to be able to implement stuff (classes) from scratch, but I can code and do some work manipulating the files and such… I probably wouldn’t be able to run the application though as my dad has concerns about the security of running Apache (I’d need to have a virtual machine or a separate computer, and it would need to be Windows so I’d need to buy a license, and even the hosting I can get free with the GitHub student backpack only has Linux).

      • Absolutely! I would love help (that’s why I am documenting the source 🙂 ). Basically, I feel there is a split between the first devs and those who want to help now, as they weren’t with us at the beginning to see how we created the source. I want to remove that split and allow the server to be available for anyone to use and develop!

      • You can save your character, but not load it yet. Jon was also able to document all the code and do dynamic char and author packet creation.

    • That’s a Replica Manager thing. NPCs are treated like all other objects from what I’ve seen.

    I am proud to announce that I have created a new version of the server…
    This server is almost the same as Jon002’s, but with a few changes.
    1. My char creation is done server side, not in game, making it harder to create.
    2.(aka the good news) You can put armor and gear on your fig!
    3. The server loads your char every time you get on, but DONT click on him to play… This will freeze you on the loading screen(not sure how you made it load CheekyMonkey Jon002, but very nice. *round of applause*)

    So I am still figuring out all the odds and ends, but basically my server will allow you(with some difficulty) to create a char with armor and helmets and… everything!

    Also, Jon002, would you like to team up?

  35. Alright everyone. I have awesome news and bad news.

    Let’s start with the awesome news! I have finally completed my LUNIServer 0.6 and have uploaded it to Tim’s site in two ZIP files: Debug and Release.

    Now, I understand people may be running around excited (or may just be completely calm, muttering “awesome”… I don’t know everyone’s personality) but first let me explain everything. What the Release version is is basically just that: a release. This ZIP file comes with the LUNIServer EXE and the required files to run the server without Visual Studio installed. Another thing to note is the new “names” folder along with the “world” folder as well as the removal of the “auth” and “char” folders. Basically, the “names” folder contains the txt files from the client that have the pre-defined usernames in them so when the client creates a char, the server knows what the pre-defined name is (if you want to research this more, look at CharPackets.cpp and CharPackets.h in the source). So basically, do NOT delete this folder or rename it! Also, the removal of the “auth” and “char” folders basically is just because I have gotten dynamic packet construction to work for these two servers (I have not gotten it for world, that is why that folder still remains).

    Now for the Source version. Developers of the LUNIServer, this is what you want! It contains the source code of the LUNIServer as well as everything else needed to develop the server. SQL settings have been added (you may want to double check these as they may have been set to absolute paths to the files…) as well as the RakNet and SUtil libraries that are required. It also DOES contain the “char” and “auth” folders just in case (they are not needed for the release, but developers may still want them).

    What developers will definately notice is some new classes and headers (such as Packet.h, Packet.cpp, AuthPackets.h, AuthPackets.cpp, etc.) as well as extensive documentation. What this is used for is basically to help explain the server; for example, it helps show what the CharactersPacket struct contains in CharPackets.h or what the DoubleLinkedNode is in SUtil\Queue.h. Hopefully, this documentation will help new developers to be able to understand how the LUNIServer is constructed, and what everything does. I have tried to explain methods, structs, variables, you name it! So I REALLY hope y’all find it helpful! (If you don’t, I give you permission to chew my head off :P).

    Now, included in both releases, the is an SQL folder. This contains a file called “Database.sql”. What you just need to do is start a server (localhosted or remote) and import the SQL file… No manual database creation needed! It does this for you! Basically what it does is create a database named ‘luni’ and then inserts different tables into it.

    Also, SQL is REQUIRED for this server. Otherwise the characters will not save as they would have no where TO save to.

    Lastly, you CANNOT simply login to the server with any username/password combination. You have to create a username and password from the server. This can currently be accomplished by typing “register” (without quotes) into the server console and creating a username/password combination. (By viewing the database source, it is also possible that someone could create a PHP script to do this as well).

    Well, that has been my awesome news! You can now create characters!!!

    But as for the bad news, well…. sigh 🙁

    Due to some unforseen events that have come my way, from this point on I will no longer be able to actively develop the LUNIServer. This does NOT mean I have decided to quit the team or don’t like the project at all! I love coding this server! But due to these events, I will be out of commission for a period of time. I just want to say though, that it has been awesome coding with y’all guys and creating this server! I could not have done it without y’all’s support and encouragement!! (I make it sound as if I am leaving permanently… I’m not though). I will definately visit this site often, but what my hope and plan with this release is that new developers can take what we’ve started and run with it! Take it too its limits! Don’t be afraid to code this thing! Who knows, perhaps you may be the releaser of the next server version 0.7 or even 1.0 with world access! But thanks for everything guys! If I can get another change to continue this work, I definately will take it!

      P.S. I’m having trouble compiling to Release; “error C1083: Cannot open include file: ‘my_global.h’: No such file or directory”. I’ve included the whole MySql\include folder, including the my_global.h within.

        #include "MySql\include\my_global.h" instead of #include <my_global.h>

        fixes that but then my_global’s includes are generating errors. I’m confused here.

        • If I have the chance, I’ll look at that for you tomorrow. I know what needs to be done, but I forget what it is. 😛

        • That’s really bizarre. Jon used a relative path… It should work out of the box (except you need to turn SDL checks off. 😛 Not sure why every version still has them on when it throws errors, along with the italian folder names).

          • If you got skype blocking apache.
            Follow these steps:
            In skype:

            Go to Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Connections and uncheck the box “use port 80 and 443 as alternative”. This should help.

      Second, whenever I launch the server it says ‘Terminated unable to connect to database!’ I’m assuming this is the SQL thing. I looked through Jon’s post again but I still don’t know how to do it. If anyone could help me out that would be great.

    I’ve been following you guys for a while now, and I think I should warn you guys about making a LU Minecraft server. It’s already being done:

    I’ve checked out the server and they’ve already finished both Pet Cove and Nimbus Station. (You can’t visit them on the server right now though, as they are down for 1.8 maintenance.) They’ve also created a LU resource pack which is pretty neat-looking. (Requires MCPatcher to look best)
    Perhaps if you are going to pursue that sort of project you should work with them?

    Also, thanks for all the work on the LUNI server. It sounds like you’ve been making some nice progress. 🙂

    • The LUNI Launcher is a separate project by TheNyJan, and you only need Visual Studio for versions 0.5.1 and above if you use the source version.

  42. Just to clear things up a bit the Minecraft server *WILL NOT* be for coders and those who are coding for the actual LUNI server. It ‘s purpose is to give those who can’t help much a chance to contribute . The LUNI server is the main priority the Minecraft LU remake is just a side project. There won’t be any plugins but if you guys want them I’ll be glad to host a server if TimTech will lend me the world files because I have the RAM for it. ….

    Are missions server side ?
    And if they are, what is about the objects the mythrans gave away within the last day of LU ?
    Could you create custom missions to get some of them ?
