      • Wait then why are a lot of people saying Lego Universe will be fixed in 2016 if wont it take 1 month to do like a part? Im not a expert correct me if im wrong.

          But we are hoping the game will be 80% complete in 2016 😀

        • I don’t know if redsuperhero is keeping good time, but it’s 8 months until 2016. There are also 20 months in the remaining time until 2016 and 2016 combined. Therefore, it could be fixed by 2017.

  4. Im inferring Lego Universe will be fixed in 2 months to get all the enemies/players, quests, create your own character, etc.

    Im still wondering what will you guys do with the membership thingy i got different replys.

      There cannot be membership. I’m 99% sure of this. Who told you it’d be done in 2 months?

    • There won’t be membership. Everything is 100% free. The only thing Tim is receiving donations for is a public server but it’s in you to donate so you don’t have to.

      • LU is closed for about 3 years. First version of the server came out about 2 months later, but that doesn’t include any interesting things.

    I have a problem with the locations thing I wanted to figure out to improve my EasyWorldChanger.
    The location described in the packet ‘SC_[53-05-00-02]’ isn’t usable for what I wanted to do. The actual location a character spawns on seems to be described in the packet ‘SC_[53-05-00-04]’ which is sent directly after sending it but it’s so complicated! 🙁

  7. I am right now waiting everyday to play Lego Universe its my favorite game!!! I know but like adding characters that you get quests from and enemies It shouldn’t take like 1 year so im inferring about like 30 days.

  8. Its just fascinating that people still care and love Lego Universe! No game can compare to lego universe its different and how you can explore different worlds and choose your path.

  10. Out of curiosity: let’s say everything goes amazingly and you manage to get the emulated server to 100% – all worlds, all npcs, all items, etc. Would you then go on to add content to LU? I’d imagine some unfinished stuff is still in the code (Gnarled Forest Survival, the original Maelstrom spider, maybe the worlds planned for after Ninjago), or completely original content from your imaginations? Or even just bugfixes?
    Or is editing the client not something you ever plan to do?

    • Adding content by yourself is illegal probably.
      Sorry if i am wrong. I am not developer 😛

    • It’s illegal as long as Lego don’t give us the permisson to do it. (And they probably don’t.)

    • We have permission for it, but I doubt we will modify the client. It has lots of stuff almost no one has seen before, though, so we can have some fun with that.

  11. @redsuperhero, we know you want the game right now, but it’s probably impossible. Tim’s team doesn’t have that many developers to do that in short time.
    If he will have good programmers, etc. It will be possible. But he has only few peoples.

    It can take a moment to get LEGO’s permissions to modify the client but I’m a Bukkit plugin coder mainly so I know what you’re able to create even if you can modify the game server-side only.
    Things like clans/guilds for example or new minigames. We could even add PvP (Player vs Player) back into game.

        Option for camera to go close and back with the mouse scroll.
        Bob (npc) should have an idle animation

    • Also, the ‘wall’ issue could be fixed a couple ways:

      1) Having a declining landscape; or
      2) Just not letting the camera go to that angle (add a collider or whatnot, or just manually script where the camera can’t go though more complicated).

  20. Is there a way you can extract the 3D models from the LU files? Especially the worlds. I want to put them into Unity3D and try out a few things. Any help would be appreciated!

        Build system is one of the things I miss the most.

        • I agree 100%. Building was the best part for me. You build whatever the heck you wanted, the you got to play with it with your freinds online :D, I had a HUUUUGE castle made with modified castle modules, it had tunnels and an elevator INSIDE the watchtower in the center! Put some Maelstrom spawners outside the castle and we played castle defence because I made the front gate destructible.

          • I’ve never tried building because I was F2P, but a friend of me built an awesome tower, which was pretty cool. Someday we could do this again in old glory and fame…

            Yeah the behavior system and all that just made it awesome to build. It amazes me they haven’t incorporated that system into any of their new games.

            I built a giant castle on my brick yard, my only prop as a F2P, but then I got skeleton castle parts so I made two castles on either side with no mans land between with loads of cool details scattered about. Then I built a set of simple bricks steps with a few platforms as high as was possible!

  23. Tim, I think we have to advertise more for LUNI. LUNI needs more Developers. But the most Devs don’t know LUNI. 🙂

    For example, we (the LUNI community) should start to get more people on this page by writing “Everyone has to know – LEGO UNIVERSE WILL COME BACK: http://timtechsoftware.com/?page_id=1065” or something like that under Youtube videos, Lego forums, Sourceforge Pages(there are many projects that have something to do with LEGO) , and so on. We all shoud tell as much people as possible about LUNI (also in real-life). All lego fans, all developers have to know about our vision. 🙂

    Second, there is no official LUNI logo. There is one at the wiki (The Lego Universe Logo + “Newly imagined”) and one in LUNIbundle(on the WordPress page, inspired by the original Logo but not breaking any copyrights). We could elect one of them to be official, or create a new one (I have some knowledge in Gimp, I know that this isn’t the prefect logo creation program, but if someone has wishes for a new Logo, I could make one). Probably it’s also a good idea to create some banners. We could use them to advertise more. Maybe there is the possibility to take part in a program like Google AdSense (if someone wants to pay for it) or something similar that’s free (if such a great thing exists).

    I know there already is a trailer, but couldn’t we create something relly impressive? So that everyone thinks: “Wow, what a impressive project!”? We could share it (together with the Link to this page) in all social networks.

    So I think that the progress on LUNI is dependant of the amount of good developers. (Sorry Jon, but I think that it would go on faster with more Devs than “only” You)

  24. Joni, as far as that file goes, you need to understand LDF. The explanation is at the bottom of the packet info (see in red: http://prntscr.com/6tr6em)

    As a translation: Key means name, this is what the client uses to address the value (thanks lcdr!)

    Also there is the datatypes, in the previous image in blue.

    For example, from my understanding you might see something like this:

    09 61 63 63 6f 75 6e 74 49 44 08 45 6d f4 e6 4d e6 54 df

    Let’s break this down. 09 is the key length, 9 characters. 61 63 63 6f 75 6e 74 49 44 is the key, which translates (if I did this right!) to accountID. 08 is the datatype, as according to the docs it is a s64, or an 8-bit signed long. 45 6d f4 e6 4d e6 54 df is this number, though I can’t actually give you a translation of what it is sorry, :$

    This data is apparently compressed, though I’m not sure what that means in terms of working with the data (ie, how it’s changed between the packet and the actual result).

    • I know what a key is because of my Java experience but the compression confuses me… :/

      • Oh, because you can use non-compressed values. I just wonder if the values you give in a compressed packet are compressed on uncompressed according to the docs? You could attempt just sending it uncompressed.

  25. Hey guys! I just wanted to let you know that I’ve figured out how to get 0.6 working again (to compile to release) so I can finally develop along with the others! I might see about getting the world server bug fixed so we don’t have so many problems with it 😀

  26. So, working on Jon’s 0.6.2 source, I’ve got it so when you go to the launch pad it takes you to Nimbus Station! It is still very buggy though.

      Can’t wait to see it, feel free to add a new folder to the GitHub for an ‘in development’ version (0.5.1 should stay as it doesn’t need MySQL/Apache, as should 0.6 should because it’s the last official release, though it’s really meant for devs). I’ll edit to fix the compile issues from that if you do.

      • Or at the least, upload it to your clone of the repo until you feel it’s stable enough to give to the rest of the devs.

    Also, I’m wondering if on any terms you would allow Tim to set up his site legouniver.se as the main home of LUNI, with an installation of GitLab instead of using Sourceforge (so everything is in one place). I think this could significantly help the project, and while Tim would be running the actual site, administrative rights would be given to someone else for the repo (and I’d assume multiple editors for the site as well). All Tim has been doing is hosting your files (completely legal, as I mentioned), and if you just worked with him to make his new place where the main area is, I see no reason why that wouldn’t work. I’m sure there’s something I overlooked, that’s why I ask what conditions you would want.

    Please, no one else get involved in this. Raffa has gotten enough smack and more isn’t going to help. I know what all parties are saying, I don’t need you to restate it for me.     • Timtech is a theft and criminal, I’ve offered him an hand and he took the arm!
      I won’t collaborate with him! also developers should wake up and go back to sourceforge page! sourceforge is for SERIOUS developers
      it offers git, forums and tickets, and of course a real developer need that!

      Timtech is NOT a developer, look around… he is not using git (or svn) he is sharing .rar files…

      However some of you still belive in timtech and are saying that I’m a liar…
      yes it can be… but I have another idea… what if I publish a video with character creation working, launchpads and the other stuff (that I’ve done but not released but written on the forum)?
      Oh well maybe it’s a stupid idea… like the poll I’ve made (on polleverywere) even thought I’ve won…

      • Hey Raffa,

        You NEVER answered my question. HOW has Tim stolen anything? The software you provided is open source whether under CC or GPL, which means anyone can share it with credit (which he has, go look at the bottom of the downloads page). I’ve never seen him say that he made the stuff (granted, I am newer).

        If you can get the main dev force back (Humanoid, Pwjones, LCDR, Darwin, etc) then maybe you have a chance with Sourceforge. However, having a universal site for LUNI would provide a great public image as opposed to dev-centric Sourceforge, and having everything in one place (info, downloads, repo probably with GitLab for Git and tickets, Forums, etc.) would just be way more efficient.

        Does it matter if he’s not a dev?

        If you can give proof that you’ve actually done that, I’d love to see it. People are just wary after the false update and virus YOU distributed last time.

        Doubt anyone will see the poll as credible, as it’s possible to vote multiple times, no matter who hosts it. The site makes no difference.

  29. Another change to the site! Whenever you guys post a big comment, there tends to be a number of links. I used to have it that two links automatically triggers a “pending” status for the comment, but now, for a large number of users, this restriction has been removed. This is not going to cause problems because anyone who spams in general gets the “pending” status on their first posts anyway. Enjoy 😀 (and don’t spam links)

  32. What is about to reactivate the LEGO Universe patcher ?
    At the moment people have to wait something like 2 hours to download the nexus2 client in their browser like any other file. I think more people would download it if the old patcher theme were back and they can look at LUNI news or something like that while the download is running…
    Also it were easier to patch the client in the future because I think we will implement some unreleased stuff like the factions shields or the ZapZapper and the Slitherstriker.

    • I think that’s a valid goal, at least at some point (namely if we ever migrate to one dedicated site, as far as news and such go).

    • Jon’s already done this! It’s actually much more complicated than you might think, but I’ve got a page for it here.

        • It’s just a matter of getting these things more integrated into the installer.

          I am again going to worn as far as the server is concerned that as Apache is a web server, when you run it your computer is opened to web strafic, which is a big security hole. Also, XAMPP is NOT secure, being meant for development only as they state on their site. That’s why I’m going to be setting up a virtual machine. Just a note that there are fairly large vulnerabilities that most people here have NO idea about (or understand whatsoever).

    I just realized that the dev 0.6 which Jon said was the 0.6 that was on here is actually different. There is a bug in the official 0.6 where the world server cannot be accessed.

    Within the next few days I hope to release a 0.6.1 as a bugfix for this problem, since the LUNIBundle is ineffective without it and I get complaints of “user doesn’t have itemchar etc” which is the last thing before the world server cuts in. It will also have updates to the World.h and World.cpp for adding in all the zone IDs, since about one third of them were missing. I also fixed some random typos.

    Glad to be developing again 😀 Cheers!

    • Ok, so the current dev version will need to be updated to 0.6.2. Once I upload it, please add your fixes there that aren’t implemented already (like the world fix is).

      • Okay. The typos I probably won’t remember but I’ll be sure to get the World ID updates to you.

        • If you could mark them down, or at least where they are, so we can fix them later it would be good, but if not we’ll just have to deal with it and fix them as they’re re-found.

      • Also, isn’t SUtil outdated now? It seems like basically none of its functions are used, but yet it is a separate project with another library and everything.

        • That’s a Jon question. XD It was supposed to be for dealing with MySQL, so if it’s used at all in theory it’s still useful to have it there (and keep in mind, at this point we don’t really have much to use the database for period). I don’t know the extent it is used or what it includes so I can’t really say at this point though.

          • SUtil does not exist online. I think it was made directly for the LUNIServer. Perhaps we can at least migrate it into the main directory since this is the case.

          • It was. Again, I’m not sure about the extent of it so I’m not sure how well it would be integrated.

          • Raffa did create it. Later I may look into removing it, but I think it works ok right now with threading.

  35. Also wanted to mention that someone tried to transfer legouniver.se to themself. I can only think of raffa as the culprit but if you have any info on this please share it. My domain name registrar has a “lock” feature which I used so everything is fine.

    Hey TimTech? Are you sure legouniver.se is a legal name for a website? I thought you couldn’t have “lego” in the main url of a website without the permission of the Lego Group.

  43. bluebrainc, I downloaded the Niftools program so where are the .nif files in nexus2?

    • I guess you can try the pk files or whatever they are.

    • You have to get the .pk extractor (see the downloads here) and use it to get the nifs from the .pk files in the /res/pack folder.

  44. Hey guys you wanted a patcher well you have come to the comment! I’m making a design for the launcher and it will be out tomorrow! This will look just like the original but new features. Also when I download the client it takes me 10 mins. 😮

  48. Does anyone know of a good program to open .lvl files?

    • I tried to open them, but no program worked jet. I think that the .lvl files in the LU client are not standart .lvl files (maybe it’s openable with Gamebryo?)

      • If that works could I export it from Gamebryo into Unity?

        • I don’t know. I even don’t now what this kind of .lvl-file contains. When I looked at it in editor, I found something that looks like audio-to-position assignements (not sure if this is right). The audio files where added to LU with fmod technology. But they are all password protected as far I know. I never have used gamebryo, but you could try to get a free trial at http://www.gamebryo.com/register.php

          • Okay I will try. Is there a way to figure out the code of the files that are password protected?

          • I’m really wanting to find the worlds and I was thinking that they might be in those weird .lvl files. If you know where the world models are can you let me know?

          • The lvl files are not password protected. Look ito with the editor. it’s readable. I mean the fmod files.

          • This is kinda off topic of LUNI and LU but can I use this same process with other PC LEGO games (not the mmo kind) like with Batman 3?

          • Well, the other games most likely do not use Gamebryo.

          • I know that the other games don’t use Gamebryo but how would you be able to extract the 3D models from them? I doubt it’s the same way as LU with the Niftool and all but I may be wrong.
