    Are you going to upload LUNI Bundle 0.6.1 in a few days? Because I really like the easy setup without requiring XAMPP.

            Yes, you have to. (I didn’t thinked about that problem… in later versions it would be really annoying. Maybe I’ll try to write an auto-updater- the files wouldn’t be loosed. Not sure if I’ll have time for this)

    If i know a Java language, i will be able to do something with LU Server?
    Any progress, or something? I just wanna be helpful with LU Server. 🙂

    • I don’t think so, but Java is quite similar to C and C++: you can compare at

      • Java is much more complicated… unless he means java script but that’s not really what you’re looking for.

        • I think of it like this. It won’t be that good transferred over to Java. Some things won’t work. Think of it like this: there are different words in languages some do not have a translation. So this might make the lu server has ALOT of bugs!

        • Um, other way around. As a lower level language, C++ is much more complicated. More ‘dirty’ I’m sure is arguable. :p

          • Ya, technically C++ has a lot of problems with it (such as multiple inheritance) but it is also pretty powerful.

    • No. The next update should have a few pretty neat things (don’t ask for what or on what time scale, it’s still quite early yet), but nothing that requires RM (that is, putting objects into the scene). That it one of the most complex and least understood portions of all this. And at this point, it isn’t even just coding it, we don’t really have enough knowledge to do it yet, and if we do its just extremely hard to understand (the main difficulty is with LU specifically, not working with RakNet itself).

    The LUNI app is 70% completed! It will be released on iOS then android. (Love dat apple!) It will have these features:

    P.S. tim can you make a Mobile little site that just shows the news for LU and always update it. I want to have a news page but i can add updates to the app only for news. Also sometimes I’m on vacation sometimes. 🙂

      • Recently there has been a problem with playing and stopping music. i have to redo it now. (no worries that would take me about 2 days to do)

        I kinda just want a mobile site that just shows news of lu and you host it on the domain of timtechsoftware. And update it. This would show up in the app. I can’t make my own site since I get busy with family and can’t do updates also I travel a lot.

      • I made the time capsule. It has all the files. I will put this folder on a flash drive when it reaches 1.0. The flash drive will be buried in my back yard but know the folder is at 0.5. 🙂
        All this was is the first thing I made to help LUNI. But right know I’m making the app (70% done) and the Mac version (5% done) 🙂

    Timtech…I talked about a hack client that did all this amazing stuff; and you said you used nodus, but the thing about it is, you can’t see skyvaults, and tracers don’t go to the chests in the skyvaults or droppers! Do you have a client that does that? email me or link me to one or something; i wanna add you on skype mainly so I can talk 2 u

  17. Is there any other software I can use to view all the LU PK files besides Nifskope?

    • Well yes, but NifScope is recommended

    • to open the .nif files? Gamebryo probably.
      There are also files in the .dds format, it’s an image/texture format, Windows 8 can open it, for other OS you need another image program. Some files also can be opened with Lego Digital Designer (Make sure you use a older Version so that all LEGO bricks can be loaded). .lua files can be opened with any text editor. The other files I don’t know.

    • Yeah I know. From what I read it seems like all the devs are either silent or now working for DLU. I know we are trying to bring back LU but remaking the game in Unity3D would be easier especially since there are several groups trying to accomplish the same thing. We all need to just join together, it doesn’t matter who brings it back, it just needs to be brought back without conflict between teams.

      • Everyone needs to work together, having all of this fragmentation throughout the community is ruining us!

        1. Jon002 will come back next month. CDFalcon is going to release his NPC-Tutorial. mater06 helps Darwin with DLU. I don’t know about Knightoffaith, but I don’t think he will quit.
        2. It would be really hard to re-create the game in Unity, read

            legality isn’t really the debate why or why not to do it. According to that email we can do whatever we want but that may just be a customer service email that could be reversed at any time. But then that may mean this is illegal also.

        • I could try. I don’t know where to start tho. Also is all this separation due to “who” brings back LU and the popularity they’ll get or something? I honestly don’t care who brings it back cause tons of people will get credited for accomplishing certain things. Maybe a petition sort of thing to join together might be a start but I don’t know how effective that would be.

          • Why is it illegal to remake it in Unity? I’ve been working on a LU Unity project. As long as you don’t sell it or use LEGO’s name then it should be fine I would think. There is this steam program called Atavism MMO Creator and it uses Unity and you can create an MMO in unity more easily.

          • Yeah I am. No not yet, right now I’m mainly just testing out some things like models, worlds, animations…

        Not sure if it would really be much faster.         • Their are programs to help with creating a game from scratch. Like I said in an earlier comment, there is this software on steam you can download called Atavism MMO Creator which is like a plugin to unity. You can check it out if you want. This project has done well but now it is kinda falling apart. Lego Nexus Adventures seems to be doing well and they are creating a game in Unity.

          People with deep grudges need to ACTUALLY AND SERIOUSLY make up. I love this project but at times it gets SO annoying.

          • I know there are things that can help, but you can’t just take the work of a whole team over 5 years and expect it to be finished in short order.

            Yep, they are creating a game in Unity, but because of the legal issues (LEGO directly contacted them about that if I remember correctly) they are not directly using any of LEGO’s IP, or at least not any of the files.

            Yeah, I know people need to get over themselves. Doesn’t mean they will. And they can have valid concerns, it’s just frustrating to me that they can’t work them out.

            So if you make your own game its all cool basically. If you want to use their assets you need to 1: Contact LEGO
            2: Do it illegally and hope you don’t get in trouble
            3: make your own from scratch.

          • I’m not sure if you can actually legal to do a re-make of the game even without using the assets because of IP ownership/copyright TBH. And LEGO is not going to give permission, at least customer service won’t get you there.

            As a remake I’m talking similar to Nexus Adventures so you do vary from LU in some ways. Or similar to what Alanzote is doing but IMO do whatever until LEGO tells you to stop.

    • Hi, yeah, hopefully I can clear some things up here…

      There’s only one or two devs working on DLU, and it’s possible that they will still be doing work for LUNI (possibly integrating their DLU work into LUNI where possible). This is not assured, just probable.

      There’s a number of things going on in terms of LUNI development, however it’s not being discussed here as it’s difficult to do in a comments stream, especially with the amount of questions people are asking myself and Jon about how the packets and server works. 😛 This wasn’t really intentional, but rest assured once there is work completed, it should be released to the GitHub fairly quickly, though I’m going venture that we’re going to wait to release a new version for a while, as there’s a number of different things that can hopefully all be implemented at once.

      As for myself, I haven’t been able to set up everything I need to work on the source until this weekend, plus I’ve had a good amount of school work. Especially with finals and such coming up, I’ll probably be relatively quiet over the next month or two, but I’m aiming to do some work this summer.

      • Btw, aiming to finish my dev intro at… Some point. I want to make a video for an intro to hex, packets, RakNet, etc., but I haven’t had a good opportunity to do so (my computer is in my living room, with other people and a good amount of noise usually :P).

        They just don’t need

        So… I leaved LUNI
        but commenting a little bit.
        The good thing about DLU
        is that you don’t give anyone

      • There are a lot of reasons I left, first off, this site isn’t very good for development purposes… There are a lot of fans on here that don’t know much about C/C++, so I can’t have strictly dev releated conversations…

        Second, I want to clear up I will NOT be releasing my source under any circumstance to ANYBODY! There is a reason for that though…

        Lastly, the difference between DLU and LUNI is that I have direct contact with the head developer… (Darwin.) And, no, I am not going to ask him any questions that you guys have, he wants to dev in peace…

        Hope this clears somethings up…

  21. Very pleased to see this game is clawing back to reality as I could never play it in New Zealand (took too long for the discs to get here and when one was available the servers were shut down :/ ) hope you guys get it all to work, NPC’s and such ^-^

    Das Pogramm kann nicht gestartet werden, da libmsql.dll auf dem Computer fehlt.
    Xampp läuft troztdem ist es mir nicht ermöglicht den Server zu starten… was soll ich tun?

      1. Teste besser Version 0.5.1, da dort du alle Welten ohne Probleme betreten kannst. In kurzer Zeit wird ein sogenanntes ‘LUNI Bundle 0.6.1’ erscheinen, wo du den Setup nicht selber durchführen musst.
      2. Dieses Forum ist hauptsächlich Englisch. Du kannst auf Deutsch posten, aber es wird länger dauern, bis dir jemand antwortet.

    • Wenn dieser Fehler auftritt, kannst du dir auch Die libmysql aus version 0.6.0 holen und in den Ordner der o.6.1 einfügen. Dann sollte es funktionieren. Viel Erfolg 🙂

  26. Can someone tell me how I can get LU world models with textures on them? Nifskope doesn’t have the textures on the models and I don’t want to retexture the world models lol 😛

      The models use vertex-based materials/textures, which nifscope doesn’t support. Not sure how to get it to work though.

      If you use a vertex shader on them it Unity I heard it will work.

    For now I think I will use some of LU’s assets. When or if LEGO tells me to stop, I will, so this may end up as a personal project.

    Speaking of LU’s assets, is there a way to export rigs and animations from Nifskope? I have tried but I have had no success.

    • Well right now we have a server where you can save your own characters, and we are working on getting them into a world, because 0.6 doesn’t have the world features of 0.5.1 since it is built differently.

  35. Does anyone know how to open LU’s audio files? I have tried fmod and another program but I cant get them to open. I know it is possible one way or another because people have extracted the soundtracks and used ingame sounds for projects? Any help would be appreciated.

It looks like the original LEGO Universe launcher(because I used the same picture) but with more features. And with these features are too much for one person to make. So does anybody want to join?         Im Fall, dass du nicht über 513 MB hochladen möchtest, könnte ich dir ein Ordner von Dropbox bieten, der auf unserem Server liegt. Sonst wird es schwieriger, aber ich würde es versuchen.

    So I am trying to use new server with LUNI installer and patcher and im not sure what ime doing… i ran with Xampp and stuff when this was in Server 0.6 and I would like to try 0.6.1 but im stuck. any ideas? is the patcher even necessary?

    • 0.6.1 needs the libmysql.dll and the sql file that are in 0.6 in order to work. The installer and patcher are not needed, simply download the nexus2 client.

    • There has been some work being done by various devs in the background (not on mobs though), but nothing has been released yet.Everything is still in progress at this point.

    • I am working on fixing 0.6.1 because it either will not load worlds or it won’t connect to the database. But before I released it I made sure it was working! I even had a little bit of chat working. I don’t know what went wrong…

Oh Timtech…I am probably saying something that you have already probably thought of…but since you don’t have all the checksums, missing quite a few like 6 or 7 or something like that, i’m probably alot off but either way, can you go into the files and see where the file is for the rockets, that you could find in the command somewhere where the rockets were like “/goto (ik thats not a command its just a example) *insert checksum here*” something like that? Let me know if I am totally wrong or if i’m on to something I will feel very good 😛

    • If you mean the /goto command of raffa, it was fake. I think it would be better if we bring launchpads fully working. (mater06 did something already)

      • I won’t release my source to the public, even though I’ve got the okay from Darwin, I retired, and I won’t come back. The only people I will release this source to, is people that need it for development. (Example: someone’s trying to change spawnpoints with the RM, I would give it to you, because you need it for development.)

        And yes, I have finished every launchpad, it works, but I won’t release it.

        The way I’m thinking of it is this: i know so many people wanna play LU, but would they rather play a stinky unfinished server right now? Or would you rather be patient, and wait for the full server to come out?

        • Does this mean that launchpads don’t need any work anymore? Because I’m going to become a dev, and I thought that this could be my first thing to do. So, I must re-focus. But thanks for sharing.

          • No, no! You misunderstood me! Please develop! If you develop, you might be recognized by the DLU developers! If one of the DLU big wigs sees your work that you have done on LUNI, they most probably will add you. From what I know, there are two requirements to get in to DLU…

            First: You mustn’t be a spammer. If you spam too much on this site, you won’t be added.
            Second: You must show that you can help. Like with developing.

            If they think you’re a necessary asset, they’ll add you.

            Don’t stop developing! 🙂

            First off no one here has been ‘added’ to DLU. If you have work you want to contribute to Darwin ANYONE can. Mater makes it sound like he’s in some exclusive DLU Dev group he isn’t. No one is. If you make something worthwhile you can give it to him. No one but Darwin can access Darwin’s server but himself. Just wanted to clear all that up.

            Yes, I can write some C++, not that good, but I’d like to join the dev team, and I will continue learn C++ and Hex.

  50. How do you send a packet to/from the client/server? I have been told I can edit existing packets, i.e. the char_aw2, or the init_aw, but how can I actually send a packet from the client to the server, or the other way round? I am trying to do some tests, but I have no idea how to send the packet with the player coordinates…
