So how long will it take for you to get $100?
I don’t know but not anytime soon – I might look into a server that can be hosted on home computers somehow.
Any way either download speed can be improved or running a lan server for the server release?
Download speed can be increased by getting a faster internet connection (this server has a fast connection speed).
As for a LAN server, we don’t have any server assets, only the server core.
Can you tell me how to change my java system path because whenever I try to run a Bukkit server (with a batch file) it says: -java is not an internal or external command.

You change your java in the PATH variable – rather than explain how to do it, I’d recommend you install JAVA again. It automatically puts it in the system path.
If you can’t, I will explain how to do it, but the above method should work.
Dude my download speed is fine… is there any way you could put it up on a file share website? Cause anything else downloads for me much faster than this.
It’s a huge file, almost 3 GB. It will probably take several hours to download.

No, I’m glad you’re excited and asking questions! 😀 Unfortunately, right now there is no LAN server capability either. Sorry about that.
It is one thing I do not understand. Does or does not this private server work? Can you play the game if you download the luniserver and the legouniverse CD files now (28-10-13), or will we have to wait until you has made the private server run?

Just to make it clear, you can not play on servers because there are none. LAN servers are not possible as you would need a dedicated computer with SQL, C, and RakNet capabilities.
Can you download the SQL, C, and Raknet programs on a site and install them on a home computer, or does it have to be a specific type of computer? What kind of dediciated computer do you mean?
I’m pretty sure you could. The computer would have to be running 24/7 and have port forwarding though.
My friend has a dedicated server which has compatiblity with those programs. It also has 16 GB RAM. And I think it can run it with no issues. He and his friend (his friend is a programmer) can setup the LAN server easily. He also pays $85 dolars a month. (and he also plays minecraft like you do and he is really good at it he started playing it in beta until now)

I’m assuming you and shafirsabbag are talking about each other. I’m glad you are willing to help! It’s great! I’ll give you everything I have and see if it’s something that will work or not. You’ll need to have SQL experience though and I unfortunately don’t have much experience in that area (or C and RakNet, for that matter).

Can’t you just set up a server on XAMPP (or MAMP) and test it to see if it would work? Then, if it did, you could buy a dedicated server to host it? I dunno, but that seems like the most direct plan….Also, how do you propose to code a server? I mean, SQL and C are big (maybe C++), but what about Authentication? How will you get past that (this is what our team is stuck on)?

I guess that would be a good method. I really don’t know how they are getting the client and server to communicate though – that’s one thing I have no knowledge of or experience with.
I would definitely try to make a LAN server first, but I don’t have the ability to do SQL on my computer.

Could you possibly explain how the Raknet, C and SQC programs will react together in order to create a LAN server in order to run a server to Lego Universe. That way can I, or my friend, try making the server for you and recording the result for you to observe.

It is on thing that I do not understand. Is it really that easy? To create a server and Lego Universe will be playable. If it really is that easy, then why is it not known all around the web by now?
A lot of people know about this. I really don’t know why there aren’t any servers.

You mentioned something about that you can “force login” with a local server. How do you create a local server in the first place? Since you mentioned that trick, i just wonder if you has gotten it to work? What is the differnence between a normal server and a LAN server? I though a LAN server was a normal one.
A LAN server is a server hosted on a local computer, and only people connected to that network could join (An example of LAN is WiFi)
An regular server is hosted over the internet, and is most common, because it is over WAN and allows people all over the globe to connect, as long as they are connected to the internet.
If you are debating between a regular server or a LAN server, just think who you want to join. If it is a LAN server, pretty much only people within the WiFi range (probably 100-500 yds….) could join IF they have the WiFi password. If you want anyone to join, or a broader range of people, then you want a dedicated server with an actual IP address.

The “force login” works but I haven’t set up a server. From what I’ve heard, the server they are using replies with “Outdated client” or “Outdated server”, something like that.
Could you please explain how the LAN will work as a way to comminicate onto the game?

I just wonder, do you have any knowledge in JavaScript or C#? Has you heard of the game engine Unity?
I am proficient in JavaScript (there’s a bunch of it on this website) and I have used Unity, but I am no good with C#.
Do that mean that you know how to create scripts for games? Such as a health indicator, or a shop or scripts for drops in JavaScript?
If you’re talking about online games, then I could have a go at it. But I think you might be confused between Java and JavaScript, two substantially different programming languages. Java is for computers and JavaScript for webpages.
As for my experience with Java, I’ve done some modifications to the runtime environment and PATH variable, but I haven’t actually made games and such, although I have compiled and run basic programs. I’ll be learning more of it over the next few years.

I guess that makes it official…we are really the only 2 teams to actually make any progress anywhere. The Legend Team changed, then stopped and LEGO Universe Rebels just gave up. And there really is no other teams besides us and the LEGO Nexus Adventures, which I have absolutely no idea on their progress any longer…

Uploading the pack folder now. These are the last files I need to upload. Once they are done (which will take a while, seeing the sheer size of them) the entire client will be uploaded. I am only uploading the client ONCE (under the Windows folder) because it works for both Mac and Windows (it is not platform-specific) and it is enormous .

Say, do you know how to model objects in Blender? Can you model them based of a drawing, if it is drawn really neat?

Very well, would you mind waiting with that until some further weeks ahead? I am right now busy with fandubbing a Kingdom Hearts game to my first language, and I possibly have to make a final piece of the notes in a organized way in order to make it more smoother to observe.

I need to actually ask what the server is because they’re describing problems connecting to their servers and I want a copy of the servers so I can try them out for myself.

Hello! I was just browsing around and found a private server for Star Wars Galaxies. It seems they had to make a new launcher/patcher so perhaps this is why, with LUNI’s server programs, they can’t connect? I know that you can bypass the launcher to get to the log-in screen however, I think the launcher has something to do with the client.

can you sort of tell me when servers will be up, i dont mean to be rude i have just been missing lu since it closed and just today i searched for private servers and i have got the downloads and im wating for a server.
i am at school on weekdays in england from 8am to 3.05pm so the only times i can really talk is on weekends and if i have no homework on mon-fri
what is the server everyone is talking about ive downloaded the files and installed lu im not sure wether i am supposed ti change the files so i can connect to servers but it always says try later no servers available could u help me timtech

Don’t worry; we don’t have any running servers yet. Once we do, you will probably have to change the files to play it. I can send you an email when we have progressed this far if you would like.

I would love to see this idea up and running! i am an LU veteran and if we can get it up again and popular we might just be able to get it like it was before. I can recruit some friends and my dads company is full of programmers so i can try to have my dad get them on board. if this works i will be forever in your debt!

You could if we had the server assets (which currently, we don’t – the LEGO servers had all of those).

I really hope that you guys can get the servers working. Even now, LU was easily the best game I’ve played. Something about it kept drawing you in no matter what you tried to do. I honestly still don’t get why they shut it down unless its success hadn’t been good enough, that was the type of game that could easily survive for five years before going f2p if handled correctly, which they seemed to be doing.

No, there hasn’t been.
I know this may seem stupid, but will you be updating it? You know, like every two or three months, you and all of the people that would be willing could create a new area based on lego sets or even get community ideas on what to add. Also, if you were to get a ton of youtubers that used to play LEGO UNIVERSE {BEST GAME EVER} to advertise this, you may get fans or server hosts to pitch in and help. I would help out but, I have no skills whatsoever in computer coding 🙁 anyways, I will download this soon. And, if you are lucky enough, you may be lucky enough to set up a server system. I mean, it would be smart to send a few emails to lego to see if they would be willing to help you out with easy ways to run and maintain servers. Ok, BIG update! You can create a minifigure in LEGO Universe. In 2014. :D!! When you log in though (this is the LUNIServer…check [WIP] Luni test server, 5th page), then it stops at 35%…If anyone has any LEGO Universe packets and/or traffic logs, please, put them on the forum. You would contribute greatly to the cause of LU if you did so!
