So Two things TimTech, first, when is the update coming out for the lego universe server with the new checksums and with the no VS needed? Second, do you think you could add me on skype, I would like to talk sometime and just work on Lego Universe, im pretty good at figuring out config, changing id’s etc, if not I completely understand how it is ^_^ And also, when the new server update comes out I will personally make a server tutorial because I have not found one, and I made a video using timtech to open lego universe! Sorry for the long comment!
The new server may take a while; since I cannot compile in release due to errors I have decided to pack all necessary files with the server.

Here are most of the other checksums, except Keelhaul Canyon which I did not get. I don’t know what will happen if you just substitute these for what is in the char_aw2.bin. There are other things in there like player position and instance. I think it will be like on Gnarled Forest where the player is in the sky and falls. The checksum is at 0×10 and the position starts at 0×16 according to what lcdr found.

What was with your site last night?
Our YOP Poll plugin was incompatible after it was updated. All admin pages were blank and pages that utilized the plugin would not loud on the front-end. I had to manually remove the plugin to restore the site. Later on I restored an older version of the plugin to continues its use.

Can you tell me how to open .bin files? I have tried using Notepad and Notepad++, but neither of them seem to know how to open them correctly.

You need to use Notepad++ with the plugin HEX Editor to make any sense out of the .bin files.
You can also used the program HxD. Its a hex editor and its what I use.

Wow. So pwjones released all the world checksums to public?? MASSIVE BREAKTHROUGH!!!!! What’s next? Enemies? 😀
So, that will probably take a while, so here is the PROPER list that we need to do to make the LUR Project a success…
– Hire a team to organise how we’re gonna do this.
– Contact LEGO to make sure we’re sticking to the rules of the project
– Setup social accounts on FB, twitter, Google+ etc… and Forums on LEGO, Rile5 (Hi, I’m Tristan/laptopguy89!) etc… to spread the word.
– Look at the LUNI Server and see what they did, hopefully translate it so we could use it (let’s hope for no viruses!)
– Start coding and BETA testing ASAP.
– Implement the world checksums into the server.
– Mine bitcoins so we could pay for a server! (I’m happy to host one for a month or so.)
– Dedicate a website (off SF) to the LUR project.
– Setup donation system to accept BC payments so we could not mine
NOTE: We don’t have to use Bitcoins, we could just use PayPal

I did the same thing when NS was created here. Sadly, unless we can hire more devs, we can’t really get enemies.
That’s why we should get advertising RoboWarrior.
I can help with that. I took several classes for advertising, not to mention I am a very persuasive person, with 90%+ in advanced English classes, (basically paper writing and fake Adversisment making classes)

I wish I could try all this new checksums stuff out, sadly I lack experience and time (I am currently castle hunting in Germany, and don’t have a way to take classes for basic script). When you make the new server please enable the ability to either spawn at or use a rocket to advent gardens, that would be the best!

You’ll Need A Hex editor Program and a CheckSum
So Take Your Checksum You want To use Such As

Now Take The First 2 bytes of your checksum
->4c 40 will be the Advant Gardens
Now Take it and replace the first 2 bytes on the packet
b0 04 would be the first 2 bytes in the packet
So Now The Packet is
4c 04 d5 e3 00 00 00 00 30 6b 1e da 00 00 cd
0c 87 43 00 00 7c 43 66 e6 11 c4 00 00 00 00
-Finally-
Take the last 4 bytes it would be 11 55 52 49 for
Advant Gardens and replace the 30 6b 1e da part
in the Nimbus station Packet with the last 4 bytes
of the checksum.

its hard to tell it could be months or years before this is implemented and even if you’ll create a your own character you will not be able to see other players
Are you sure about that? “even if you’ll create a your own character you will not be able to see other players” creating our own character and meeting other’s creation is 60% part of LU’s experience. could you please work on this and make it happen?

Seeing other players is handled by RakNet’s ReplicaManager, which is currently not implemented into the server. In fact, we are currently trying to figure out how to implement it b/c without it NPCS, enemies, and object will not load either.

Right now there is no public server; you will have to run one yourself.

Also, make sure you’re using the client from here instead of a broken/patched one from the original LEGO distribution.
When i use server v0.5 i can login and select a character then it gliches back to the login screen, but when i use v0.3 i can get to 35% then it stops. HELP???

Looks like everything is coming around after the dumped server files. Plus you can make an even better, more popular server with the new checksums, and it looks like some of the luni project devs are coming out of hiding! If we rally and fight together, we can save imagination!

Nope, server files. The reason the server is down, because Microsoft dumped them all because there may or may not have been a virus on the website
I downloaded, updated my boot.cgf but am unable to login. Getting authentication error. I am not running my own server, would like to just connect to the public one. Any advise. Thanks for doing this we are all thrilled as we loved this game!

No, we don’t have enough funds to host it anymore.
That’s the problem, there is no public server anymore. The files got dumped by the website due to a suspected virus

Yes, only Keelhaul canyon remains without a known checksum. However, the process of editing the packets is a bit hard for some people…
Timtech you should have beta testing for us people, sso that we can test the server.
He doesn’t need beta testing, he is testing it himself. And currently the tests are not so great, crashing during checksum loads.
TimTech, i have been looking at this for a few weeks now and as I scroll through the posts I see that you lack a development team? I would be willing to contribute to this project as I in lack of one to do. If you are interest please email me, and ill gladly try to fight for imagination as I once did before the sealing of the doors in 2012.

You probabbly don’t remember me, but I started looking here in May and wanted to help. When I saw that LUNI fell apart I gave up hope. But now I’m back. If you don’t remember I have a Mac client on my Laptop right now and can give it to you. It’s a couple GBs even zipped though so I’ll need like 24 hours to upload to the internet.

The Mac client does not work as of now. The patcher uses a feature from TransGaming called “Cider” (https://www.transgaming.com/cider) to port the windows code to mac (The file it runs is actually called “legouniverse_mac.exe”). The patcher for both Mac and Windows is broken, so now the only way to open the game is through either “legouniverse.exe” on a Windows machine or “legouniverse_mac.exe” on a Macintosh. Unfortunately, I’ve tried that… Both Wine and CrossOver does not work, so the only way you really can run it on a Mac right now is to set up a virtual machine with Windows, then run it on that. Or decompile the EXE, reverse-engineer the assembly/psuedo-code (I actually don’t think that’s possible with C++), then recreate the client EXE for Mac….. Or you can try to figure out how to use the Cider technology, then implement it in a new patcher (It would be expensive though… I don’t believe TransGaming gives this technology away for free…)

If you want to, sure! The Mac client contains certain files only available with the Mac version of LU. I’m just saying its not possible to run it right now with the Mac OS (I’ve tried…. It hasn’t gone so well….) But by all means, upload it (that is, if you want to).

1. A checksum is a small string of data that is computed from the file (e.g. LU map) at release, which is computed again when you try to load the map so you can’t play with modifications or older versions of the map.

i made a youtube channel called “lego universe now”, it will be dedicated to this project: posting updates, tutorials, and playthroughs of the emulator. i dont ask for subscriptions, likes, anything like that. i just want to help people who need it. i already posted a video tutorial for those of you who asked for one. this one has my voice though, so i can hopefully simplify it a bit more with my skilled expert narration (sarcasm intended).

hey tim, on my youtube a person said the LUNI Server actually SHUT DOWN on him. im not sure if he means it crashed or closed or what. have you heard of this problem? i haven’t.

Download the one I linked in my video. Visual studio express 2013 desktop. I had a problem with installing it, but second time around it finished. It might not have finished installing, so open vs and see if it all works
I have been able to play on luni, but where is and what file format are the 3d graphics files in the luni server? They have to be somewhere? Where are the world graphical files (Avant Gardens, etc)
That is all contained in the client.

Without more packets, there is no more development, paid or not.
You don’t necessarily need more packets. You need a way to save any packets the client sends when you perform an action. Then you look at the packet and try to determine what the client is sending for that action.
Even with more packets, you still have to go through them and determine what was happening at the time and make a list of “codes,” what they do, and what information they contain.
Either way, it takes a while.
What do you think, decryption packet wise, will NEVER be possible?
Multiplayer, since it is not a matter of decrypting packets (at least to start), it requires a ReplicaManager to process and supply all entities to multiple users simultaneously.
A replica manager is also required for all the enemies, quickbuilds, NPCs, scenery, etc. So a replica manager has to be implemented for this project to advance. It would actually be easier to implement multiple players being able to see each other than all the other things a replica manager does since the “codes” for the other items have to be determined and cataloged.
Is development still taking place? I thought most of the packets were already used to implement authentication, etc.
Yes, people are still working on it. We just are not doing anything with raffa and his petty dictatorship. From the looks of it, he is still just adding piddly BS updates – like his latest of being able to “travel” by typing in a command.
There are still plenty of packets. But they really are only useful in determining what they mean, contain, etc. so they won’t do the public any good.

*GASP* it is THE pwjones! Are you continuing to decrypt packets and develop the game? That would be awesome, to have rocket travel and quickbuilds (I never really liked the enemy npc’s, annoying buggers). No rush or anything.
The packets are all decrypted. Humanoid24 and lcdr are still developing the game. They are much better programmers than I will ever be.
Is their current developmental state further along than what is currently available to the public? I just want to see what’s new, like more mini figures at nimbus station or rocket travel (I really want rocket travel, my favorite area is advant gardens)
