      • 1. Yes, assuming their government or Internet Service Provider does not block it.
        2. Not sure; creating/saving/loading is done, but not playing as that character.

      Hey Timtech as a personal extreme LU fan I just wanted to say thanks! Also with the public server will there be NPCs and enemies just like in the game or will it be more like the private servers we have now with NPCs here and there and no enemies?

  2. Just wanted to let people know, I have uploaded my (very unstable) source to github. It is under Source/LUNI-Unstable-Dev/. It contains a lot of what I’ve been working on as well as some very basic implementation of the ReplicaManager.

          • I’ve fixed those issues on my latest GitHub versions (0.5.0a and 0.6.0a, and eventually I will add Tim’s code into 0.6.1a, but haven’t had the chance). I haven’t gotten to release it, I’ll try to do that at some point soonish…

            In the meantime, the first one can be fixed by changing SDL checks to no in the general C/C++ area of the RakNet project properties, and the second one can be fixed by copying that file from \mysql\lib into \debug and \release.

          • How do I do the first thing? I don’t really know C++, but I wanna test the Replica Manager.

  4. Anyone know what the map files are? I’ve used the PK Extractor. Im trying to find out import them to Gmod.

    • I don’t think You’ll get it working, the maps are in a compiled version, If you wish to open the in Gamebryo it’s one thing, import them to a different game, that’s difficult! Also, I’ve seen that all the models from the maps are in Mesh\ Folder, so you’ll have to convert the map, the models and if you get the map working, they’ll problaby be without any models.

  6. Hi Tim , im asking if you will be putting in the Missions , and that you can make your own Character ? And could you use the Rockets ?

    • He can’t put missions, playing as your own character, etc. It need RM (Replica Manager) No one know how to use it so… You just need to be patient.

    • Yes, it is faked. He is copying random replies by me on my site for some reason. I will see about this. Natsu/Rabbit21 translated the Polish for us if you’d like to ask him.

      • They’re pwjones old characters that he captured packets for. Since he has the packets for those characters, he can use them.

            When I heard LEGO Universe was closing, I used Wireshark to capture all the packets I could. Until humanoid24 determined how to decrypt them, they were fairly useless 🙂

            I never spoke to any mythrans.

  16. Okay, I hope this post will clear somethings up for people who don’t know.
    1. LUNI isn’t dying. There are not that much people developing, but Jon002 make good progress with the RM.
    2. You can’t use any of the LU assetts in any other game. This is illegal. Lego forbid it.
    3. There are many fake videos on Youtube. Some of them refer to LUNI, other not. But the most of them use LUNI, maybe with other textures or something.

  17. GUYS! I made a discovery! (Idk if people know about this) I was looking at the files in my original launcher and I found object files like the ones made with bricks and I found they a LEGO Digital Designer files! There is a lot! So does anybody know this? I guess its just me who doesn’t know much about the client.

      • Its not in our Nexus 2 client folder but its in the Client folder thats in my original LU launcher I played with. Its in client/res and there is a folder called brick models. here is the screenshot left nexus 2 right my original lu files:

      Indeed we did create the Mac version of Lego Universe – thanks for looking us up. Are you bringing the game back with the blessing of Lego Systems A/S, or on your own as a fan effort? Has Lego opened up the Lego Universe client and server code? If so, we haven’t heard about it.

      If your efforts are commercial, and have the blessing of Lego Systems A/S, we can definitely speak further. If not however, our agreements with Lego would prevent us from getting involved.

    • Me too I found it but i can’t open it with my lego digital disigner it says that the files or in an old format.
      So if someone is able to open theme please tell it.

      • The .nif models can be exported with NifSkope, if I recall correctly.

      • Their not in the client its has to be in the files of a Lego universe Launcher that has been used. You have to use .LXFML extension, at least thats the one I use.

      • Nope its just me who is stupid. 😛 I worked before with a lot of young kids on stuff so I helped them out by stating the obvious to us. I just got used to that so Sorry. 🙁

    • Right now it gets stuck at 100% for some unknown reason :(. I believe I changed a couple values in the Replica class (the name or the accountID or something). Make sure nothing is changed in the class after being read, only let it be read from the packet and written to the bitstream (I really hope this makes sense).

      I believe it really is because the world_2a.bin (the chardata packet)’s info and the local char create’s info (I believe it is world_2_1.bin – starts with 0x24 and has “00 08 00 00” on the top line) must match, otherwise something goes wrong and nothing loads (I haven’t tested this just yet though).

  21. Ok everyone. I’m hoping this aids development for anyone, so I have written a decompression script for the world_2a.bin packet. Because the data is zlib compressed, this script will scan (because the world_2a.bin has some uncompressed data attached to it) and decompress it.

    You can download my script here: http://www.mediafire.com/view/vd9t3qfqg0pff0l/ZLIBDec.py

    On the command line (or CMD) type: python ZLIBDec.py “path/to/file.bin”. This will create a new file that has the name (assuming the original is file.bin) file-decompressed.bin. Hope this helps 🙂

    Also, all variable wstrings as well as the xmlData has a 4-byte length specifier before it.

    • You can also send the packet uncompresssed. Just remember to add the required data to it:

      First, figure out the size of the uncompressed data and convert that to hex, then write the bytes backwards. For example, if the length of the data is 10 bytes, 10 in hex is 0A, and so four bytes would be “00 00 00 0A”, but backwards would be “0A 00 00 00” (if the data was “00 01 00 0A” then backwards would be “0A 00 01 00”).

      Then, make sure to add 53 05 00 04 00 00 00 00 to the beginning and then add the 4-byte data found above, followed by a 00 (this means the data is not compressed). In all, the added data should be 13 bytes BEFORE the uncompressed data. Save that as a new file and send it via the server 🙂

          • Right. I use zlib to compress the pages you’re looking at, for the same reason.

    • Wait sorry, haven’t been around for awhile… What is this for?

      • If you want to change the chardata packet (such as the name, inventory, etc), you must edit the world_2a.bin packet. However, the data in that packet is normally compressed via zlib compression, so this script decompresses it.

          • I’m talking about ingame, not in character selection. This would allow you to change what the character is wearing ingame as well as what his name is, etc (just make sure the length of the data is correct – if you have to add/delete a byte in any variable wstrings or xmlData, remember to modify the length specifier. Otherwise the game crashes)

          • Yay! That’s really cool! Maybe could someone write a script for it, just like the EasyWorldChanger.

    • The .py script isn’t working for me. I input a file and out comes a completely empty .bin file. The command prompt doesn’t say anything is going wrong either.
      Out of curiosity, is python 2.7 or 3.4 recommended?
      Either way, I tried it with both versions, making sure the proper PATH was set and all that jazz.

      which outputs me with an empty “ZLIBDec.py-decompressed.bin” file in both the place of the bin and where the script is being run from.

      • Ah! This is not for the char_aw2.bin file. It it for the world_2a.bin file (the really long one. It is compressed data).

      • ^And I also read the end :P. It should work…. It did for me. Try the world/world_2a.bin file (start a command prompt in the folder itself, so you don’t need a path name. Didn’t test it (it should be able to read the path) but that could be the problem). Also, I used python version 2.7.8 on a Mac running OS X 10.10.

  23. Jon, CDFalcon, anybody do you have he free to play or beta/alfa files. I lost mine when i switched my macs. The VM I use always messes up. Idk why but I always like to use the windows versions of games more than mac. 😛

      No one but Darwin, Neal and probably Humanoid have the Alpha files and they aren’t releasing them. Someone else out there may have them but not in this active group of people.

        • The free-to-play files are the same as the current files. You just need to mark the player as F2P in the character selection and the world packets (look in the packet docs for more on that).

    For those who haven’t heard. Unknown if this game is multiplayer or not. From what I can tell appears to be an open building game that many people have been demanding for a while now.

    • Either it’s true or it’s fake. Choose one.
      I would actually opt for true as I’m a minecraft fanatic.
      BTW, there is a server called Luni-Craft where tjey are trying to make LU in Minecraft. However they sadly closed down in February this year because of nobody going on anymore and no funds.

So, i’m pretty sure someone already released this… but the launcher I think it was that was the screen where you joined lego universe, and it was playing the video for the new ninjago realm, is that launcher available and how do I add it? Also, can you add the ninjago video that plays when you open it? For nostalgia’s sake 😛

    • I don’t think it has been done by anybody
      since gameplay was main priority.

    • I don’t know if we will bring back the original launcher, but several people develop a launcher.

    • I think i worked out your age; Your brother is around 13, so that means your under 13 and im going to take a wild guess and say 11, Am i right? I took that guess because im assuming your real name is Griffon, I figured this since in the bon jovi singing video there was the older brother (Yours) and the younger brother (Most likely you) he looked about 2 years younger.             That is asking for like complete project renovation that isn’t happening.

          • HappyAngryCatfish, some of the list is a bit extreme in terms of a full project overhaul, but some items do make sense. For instance, tutorials for running servers could be useful, for instance a simple single tutorial for users who just want to test/play the game. Also the idea of creating a priorities list seems good, although I know that figuring out the item and character issues are much more important to the main contributors.

          • I’m not saying all of this is happening, but we can at least try and fix things that have gone amiss with LUNI. For example, there are like, 20 sites based on LUNI, what we’re trying to do, is make it so this Git will be the main hub for LUNI. I don’t honestly see what is wrong with that!

          • Like rioforce said, we need more of a public outline, more docs, and docs complete noobs can understand. We need tutorials for development.

            Have a place for the normal users to chat, and have a place for developers to work in peace.

            Plus, right now, development is spread out all over the internet. What we’re trying to do is build an actual team again.

          • I know that the tutorial on the main page is the one meant for new users, but it’s kind of confusing when there are separate tutorials on almost every page for old server versions, custom servers, and development versions. It’s just difficult to tell which ones to follow to just download and play the game.

  33. Also a missing RakNet.lib in debug folder, Fixed the mysql lib not found problem, copy it from C:\xampp\mysql\lib\libmysql.lib to Drive\What\Ever\Path\It\Is\LUNI-Unstable-Dev\Source\Debug if you have the RakNet problem I am still finding a solution…

    TimTech, why exactly did the whole Tim VS. Raffa thing happen? Neal tells me you claimed the server code as being yours when it wasn’t. (And this page seems to prove that: http://codereview.stackexchange.com/questions/39608/lego%C2%AE-universe-authentication-server ) IF you had never gotten involved with LUNI, would none of this have ever happened? I very much trust Neal on this since he happens to be one of the original LUNI members, unlike you. I don’t approve of Raffa’s attempts to infect you computer. But not crediting Raffa and claiming the code as yours is just as unacceptable. It seems like nothing bad happened and Raffa was running the LUNI project smoothly until you came along.

    Or is Neal just misunderstanding what actually happened? Please tell me as complete an account of what happened as you can, because I am very much confused as to who I can trust, if anyone at all.

    • I’d venture a few things, if Tim hadn’t done what he did:

      1) The devs currently not in public would still be public
      2) The new devs would not be around
      3) LUNI would not be horribly splintered
      4) Tim would not be looked on in a bad light

      Honestly, from what I’ve seen, the blame is pretty much on everyone. Tim blatantly ignored what the original devs said, and as a result they got extremely mad, left (or in the case of Raffa started a ‘flame war’ of sorts), and LUNI was splintered.

      Jon002 and myself especially really want all sides to just come together and work on the project, but thanks to what Tim did he practically lost all trust.

    • I’ll venture a few things that I think would have happened if I hadn’t done what I did:

      1) These files in versions 0.4+ would be sitting quietly in a sourceforge repo.
      2) Eventually, many others would make fake YouTube videos about the project, pairing the incomplete LUNIServer with full game footage.
      3) The developers would eventually gain some popularity and be spammed by new users.
      4) 90% of you would not be here.

      Also, Neal joined after me, and became a leader mainly because raffa was pressured to step down from the position. (Not that I was doing anything for LUNI at the time).

      • yeah, the source would be on the repo but it would be continued to be worked on and in public.

        And why in the world would they be spammed with new users if no one knew about the project unless they were in the position to be able to dev? That’s the whole reason they didn’t want you to advertise, as the project wasn’t ready for the public, and they didn’t want to deal with non-devs.

        And no, most people would not be here, but at the same time, no one here has even contributed anything to the LUNI source yet.

        Personally, if you had talked out the situation with the devs (that is, possibly coming to an agreement where you could head up a public area once the source could actually do anything, with a way for non-devs to not go to the dev area) as opposed to just completely ignoring their requests, then this whole thing might’ve actually worked, as opposed to splintering the project.

          • Importance of the conflict: Tim ignored what the original devs (aka, the ones who are the reason we have LUNI and we have the information we need to continue working on it) wanted, so they (except Jon) no longer have next to any trust of him, and have stopped working publicly.

          • LUNI will never succeed at the rate we’re going. And if LUNI does succeed, it’ll be done by the actual LUNI devs. Not us. We didn’t code it in the beginning, and they didn’t document it. The only dev that still helps out is Jon. And I praise him for still staying and helping us out learn how to use the source.

          • It was never about trust. The actual creators (humanoid24 and lcdr) realized that most of the people joining just wanted to play and did not really know anything about programming. So they are/were working on their own until they could get the server at a better place – i.e. so that people could partially play. I think there was even a post about people wanting to help them develop. I joined by proxy because I had all the available captures. It was a little difficult for me to converse with them because of the time differences since they are in Europe.

            Unfortunately, the Replica Manager is much harder than anticipated so they released all of their findings so that others would not spend their time duplicating their efforts.

            I think that the only person that had an issue with Tim’s actions was raffa.

        3) And how is that any different from what’s happening right now? And if the project was still in secret, how would anyone know??? The LUNI server is incomplete, and as Knightoffaith said, that was why they didn’t want to release it to the public!
        4) I would rather not be here if it meant the original team had never broken up and the legal battle had ever happened. And doesn’t that contradict your 3rd statement? If the original developers got some popularity, I think that quite a few of us would have found out about the project.

        And wait… Neal joined AFTER you??? Neal told me otherwise: “I was in the original dev team and was there from the beginning”. You can’t both be right?!?

        If this is how it looks, I really don’t think ignoring what the original devs said was worth it. I would rather the project still be in secret and making lots of progress instead of what’s happening now.

        • This page was here since before LEGO Universe closed. I was in the sourceforge with everyone else once LUNI was founded.

    • I understand your position, but let me restate again what open-source means. Open-Source under the GPL means that any user can take your uploaded code (no matter who made it) and do whatever they want with it. I can present an example: Darwin originally created the design. Humanoid and LCDR created another design. Raffa took humanoid’s design and said it was his. Tim took raffa AND humanoid’s design as his. I took all three of their designs and called it my own. Other people are taking my design (along with the past three) and calling it theirs. THAT is open-source. Not pure, of course, because it is not uploaded to a central location, but open source means ANYONE can do WHATEVER they want with the code. If raffa has wished for credit, he shouldn’t have used sourceforge.

      As for Neal, I’m actually not fully sure why he is angry still. I guess it goes back to the fact that humans can tend to hold grudges…. and given the fact that Tim and Nealy don’t know each other in real life…. But my hope is that in the future, no matter how long it takes, things will be resolved.

    Lots of drama I see. First off people exaggerate this “we are in utter chaos and never going to finish” stuff. This has been going on since Tim uploaded the client. Jon is the core of the the LUNI group (this group) without him progress would fall drastically yes. I’m not much of a coder I know some C++ basics and am learning more. I like to mess around with the server and ask people like Jon and Knight questions to expand my knowledge on this subject so I can one day help. All this ‘drama’ is self created inside our heads in my opinion. If your interested in helping out head over to the github. We need to settle down and work on it.

    • Interesting to see a developer actually state what most of us already knew. The moderation “to protect the kids” was way overboard. You could not type any number in chat except “one.” The funny thing about it was that most of the people playing knew ways around the chat filters – too, tree, fur, hive, etc. Heck, it wouldn’t even let me type my name “Shasta Fantastic” because of “Shasta” which made me wonder why they allowed it in the first place 🙂

      That is why we will never see LEGO make a game like LEGO Universe ever again.

    • They really can’t do that.
      That thing need RM (Replica Manager), that no one figured out how it’s working yet.

      • As you can see on GitHub they figured out something/how it is working (paritally).

    • In the moment, we are working on the RM (Replica Manager) with let us spawn enemies and NPC’s.
      It’s really easy to make a server (0.5.1):
      1. Download nexus2 and LUNI Server 0.5.1 from the download page.
      2. Un-zip them.
      3. Start the server.
      4. Start the client.
      5. Log in with any username/password.
      6. Enjoy!

    • 1. “How much do you need”: I think what you speak about is Money for a public server. In theory, It’s allready enough Money for a (really slow) Server, but it don’t makes sense ecause we can’t use Replica Manager completely yet. So we can’t play together. That’s why a public Server isn’t useful. It will come after Replica manager is working more/better.

      2. “are you working on maelstrom”: What do you want to say with this? If you’re speaking about Enemies, That’s allso a RM thing. It will come, but I don’t think that it will come out in really near future. So you have to wait.
